Noisie 2nd stage actuator!!! Is it normal?

the actuator for the second stage intake on my type s(only type s has this) is very load(like a clothes dryer buzzer) when it activates(around 4200rpm AND a self test everytime the ign. key is turned to the ign position. I dont remember hearing this noise before but it does it everytime now.
Can someone go out and listen for that noise? Thanx

If you take the plastic engine cover off, you will see where the cable goes to (there's a spring there to snap it back).

Can you actuate the cable and butterfly valve manually? If someone turns the key to ignition, will it flip the butterfly valve open?

Hmm - just checked mine. It doesn't actuate at all when I turn the key to ignition. Perhaps it's something else?

ya its deff the accuator or a component of it. Your right the pulley dosnt accually move at the selftest w/ the key but the exact same noise is produced when i manually rev the engine and watch the accuator work.

I think you answered my main Q of is this normal, with a big no. That sucks because at every shift from over the 4200 rpm i get a sound that almost sounds like a turbo by pass.( I think thats what its called when a turbo releases its presure at a shift)

are you saying you also hear a load bzzzzzzz from under your hood everytime you turn your key to poss #2 (before the point in which it activates the starter)?

My dealer wont have a loaner until the 26th. Maybe the 4th tranny will die before then.

If you're just talking about a buzzing sound that happens twice once when you start moving and once again around 5mph, thats the ABS brakes running a self-test. Its completely normal. Check out your manual for more information.

You don't really hear the bypass valve actuator. You should be able to see it in action though. If you have someone rev the engine while its in Park or Neutral to 4000+ rpms, you should see the actuator open.

Check this link for more information about it and a movie/pictures which shows where you can find your actuator: http://www.geocities.com/gamesmgr/chod/acura/#Driving6

Lightbulb Buzz Noise

I have the same noise as I turn the KOEO (key on Engine off)
This is before I even new anything about the bypass valve. I just wanted to figure out what this buzz noise was. When I pinpointed the area the noise was coming from I Unplugged the connector for the bypass valve. Turned the ignition on several times afterwards and the buzz no longer buzzed so figured it was the bypass valve. Does this mean its bad for sure? Im not certain because my cl still turns heads at WOT! Im going to unplug it and see if it makes any difference.
