I just bought a used 2002 TL S-Type with 34K miles on it.

Everytime I start the car and back up or pull forward, there's a soft mechanical whirrrrr, occurs 5-10 secs after I start to move.

First I thought it was the motor running the rt-side view mirror, but that mirrow doesn't move if I'm going forward.

Sometimes I get it again after another 10 secs or so.

Any ideas?

ABS Check. Nothing Wrong.

Do a Search first. Been covered many many times.

Oh and welcome to the forums

 

had a similar issue with my CL-S, and i've been told that its the ABS controller checking itself. Hopefully that the same with your's too.
