Jyoo when you brake torqued the tl did you put slam on the brake and gas it or did you hit the e-brake and hit the gas? Since our car is front wheel drive i thought the only way to do a brake torque would be to use the e-brake. Anyways, what happens when you attempt to brake torque the tl. Do the tires just stop moving or what?

Don't try this @ home.

Put the gear in "N" (Neutral), rev it up, and drop the gear into "D" (Drive). It's called the Neutral Drop.... mighty harmful to the tranny, but works nonetheless.

wow there is no way i am gonna neutral drop my car. Brake torqueing doesnt do as much harm as neutral drops thats why its better to do that to show off. Anyways, i havent tried brake torqueing yet, but i plan to later. I'll let you guys know how everything turns out.

Brake torquing is not going to be like for normal RWD cars. reason being is that TL is FWD, and also that brake systems are balanced to where much more braking power is applied to the front wheels in all cars; that helps cars stop harder.

To smoke your tires and impress all the ladies, try as someone suggested earlier and use the parking brake. This might be tough, though, as no hand brake is available and the parking brake is notched and therefore difficult to modulate.

Uh, why didn't you guys get a muscle car, BTW? Brake torquing a TL is right up there with SCUBA diving in an Armani suit in the "two things that don't go together category."

I know that the TL is nowhere near a muscle car, but it would be nice to know that it has enough torque to do that. Just a thought.

The TL has definately enough torque to spin the tires for a while. It also depends on the surface I guess. Just turn off your TCS and mash it. Your car might be going sideways a little bit so make sure you have a wide road.

When I was at the track I was trying different launching techniques and found that TCS really helps. One time I staged and turned off TCS and hit the gas like 3/4 throttle and I spun like a crazy. As you can see here are the shavings.

But then again, TL's arent ment to make smoke shows or long burnouts. But is it fun? Yes

Come on guys, brake torques are reserved for when your car is in the shop and you have a loaner to play with.

Cool

This is how I do it.
1. Turn off TCS button on bottom left so the car won't think you're losing traction
2. Keep gear in D4 not D5. I don't know why it doesn't work in D5.
3. Left foot on brake firmly
4. Right foot on gas slowly rev till about 6000rpm
5. Lift left foot slowly. hear it spin. Release it to jack rabbit start on green light.
6. Smoke the Rice boys on Honda civics with Phat tail pipes!!

Sorry buddy, it DOES work. Next time, try it with a car that you don't give a sh*t about. Like a rental car. I'm sure you couldn't do it right since it was your Camry that you babied for years. You still had feelings for it... you were emotionally attached to it even if you were going to sell it!

Yup, I'm with Einstein on this....
I don't buy used cars.
I don't buy cars from a rental car company.

Thats because He is rear wheel drive, 5 speed manual, and he has very little weight in the back, so it's pretty easy to spin out the rear tires..
