I want to Install cameras, and eliminate my rear view and door mirrors, but if I do it,I might get ticketed by (NYPD), DOES ANY ONE KNOW THE LAW..

The Law requires a minimum of one side mirror (driver's side) and a rear-view mirror to be present. I do not know what would happen if you got pulled over and explained that you use a camera for views, but I am quite certain you will fail any required inspections for the state you live in (unless your state doesn't require inpections). I am sure if you are creative enough to put in a camera, you would be creative enough to avoid this problem, though

Well, I just want to say that the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR doesn't have a rearview mirror it uses camera. However that is a one million dollors car that we r talking about so........

 

install the camera...and have the vid. screen be the rear view.

Huh. I guess if you've got a million dollar car you don't need to worry about a $50 inspection fine

 

I don't think the GTR is a street legal car anyway.

 

Crackpuppy has a small camera in his rear view window, and it projects on his radio's head unit(I think he has an Alpine with LCD screen).. looked cool.. I think he had the rear view mirror still on his car though.. I'm not sure what the legalities are for that though..

I saw the Saber had a spoiler with camera kit. i think it is workable.

 

I don't think it is legal to get rid of your drivers mirrors and rearview. Infinity has a back up camera in the q45 and it says this is not a substitute for looking backwards right on the screen. Heres a pic of mine.

 

that's sweet...i gotta get one of those...but out here in MN, the law is two mirrors, either one side mirror and a rear view or two side mirrors...
