NO MORE LINKS ALLOWED
I haven't really seen this in this forum, but from now on links to other web sites that sell items will not be allowed. Posts involving links to other sales sites will be deleted, including links involved in group buys.
THE ONLY LINKS ALLOWED WILL BE THOSE THAT GO TO PICTURES AND INFO ABOUT MEMBERS' CARS.
There is a liability issue at the heart of this involving Snook, so basically invoking this policy is the best way to deal with it.

I take it as you cannot link pictures directly from sales sites. Or cannot link to a site that sells stuff.

Uh, OK, but pretty much every site out there sells something. That includes PhotoPoint which many of us use.
Is this new policy due to some sort of problem? Man, and I was going to post a link to www.chocolatesaltedballs.cum until I found out...

If your sort of thing is chocolate salted balls, then all the power to ya, just so long as you are not posting the site so that other people can buy things from there. Use your e-mail if you want to do that.
Basically, if you post the site and somebody tries to buy something from there and something happens where the person gets cheated out of their money or never recieves their merchandise, then there is the possibility that that person will blame Tim because they got the link from his forum. It has already happened before and this is not the first site to start this sort of policy. The CL site has started doing this as well as the IS site.

No offense, but this really sounds like a policy that is trying to force people to buy parts through this site. If there is something that simply isn't sold here (like the X-Pel that was discussed a few weeks ago), why shouldn't the members be allowed to get together to purchase it?
If people are going to be forced to not mention any parts sources other than you, then we cannot really trust any advice shared on the site either, since it could be skewed in the same fashion.

If you know of a product that is good, then talk about it. We are not saying you can't talk about different car waxes, the newest leather treater, or things of that nature. Go for it. However group buys being set up through the forums and the solicitation of web sites that sell these products will not be allowed in the forums. I think that is pretty clear.

I have tried to answer your questions to the best of what I know, so I hope I have helped some of you with your concerns.

what about promotional stuff.. like my prior post about beta testing a product.. its not entirely a sales link .. just making people aware that ther'es a beta test program available....still a no -no ?
