No cruise after replacing brake switch

No cruise after replacing brake switch
I replaced my brake switch after discovering it was bad and since doing that I no longer have cruise (worked great before). Ive checked the stop fuse, tried readjusting the brake switch & checked the cruise fuse. The Acura dealer said maybe the brake switch is bad, I dont believe that as it was a new one & it fixed the problem I had before replacing it. Has anyone else seen this? Know what it could be? Im going on a 1000+ mile trip & am hoping to fix it.

there is normally a brake light switch and a separate cruise disconnect switch
cant remember for sure o ours but worth looking for it and connector knocked loose?
(gurus of switches under foot please advise
if not that, it may have broken the attachment assembly at throttle body
odd thought, you did turn on the power switch to Cruise Control?

did you test the fuse with a multi meter or just visual
if not tested swap in a spare

I just visually checked, Ill try swapping anyway.
Ive read about the separate cruise switch, I cant seem to find that. Im thinking that might be the issue, wherever it is. Maybe knocked loose.

I swapped the stop & cruise fuses and I dont see any other switch besides the brake switch.
I cant believe I would be the only one who has ever had this problem. Im thinking it would be something simple, it worked great before replacing the brake switch.

Some of these vehicles have a combined switch, more than two wires going to the switch?
If so then it's normally caused by incorrect adjustment of a new brake/cruise switch. The brake switch has two sets of contacts, one normally closed and one normally open. If you just adjust it for brake light operation it may not be in the correct position to trip the cruise control contacts.

I can definitely try readjusting the switch. Right now I have it adjusted so that I barely push the brake pedal & the switch lets the plunger out; I assumed that would be the most desirable setting, could it make a difference to have it set to have to push the brake pedal more before it actuates? This is frustrating, fixing one thing and another that did work doesnt.

Adjusting it that way may not work correctly. The cruise switch does not switch at the same position as the brake switch contact. I've seen this trip up a quite a few people with exactly the same problem - no cruise after brake switch replacement.

I have to say, that goes totally against my way of thinking, but it worked! I turned the switch almost all the way in and cruise works again. Wow, you saved me alot of stress, thank you very much!

Thanks to Mkari for the great tip in resolving the problem !!!
Excellent info for others having a similar issue.

how much brake pedal travel is there now before lights activate? there is a lot of dead space in the travel before actual slowing occurs
that's where I want to know they are for sure on!
We should have a brake switch diy, if so add this adjusting info to it please, thanks
Aftermarket or acura part used?
old racers trick- the rules say I must have brake light, but doesn't say WHEN it has to come on, say before 6000psi hehehehehehe
hint: don't try to outbrake me into the corner

I cant say for sure exactly how much travel there is; but the entire switch contact button travels maybe a little more than 1/4" (guessing). Before the tip from Mkari I had it adjusted so that the second I touch the pedal the lights were on. I honestly havent looked but I guess I maybe touch a tiny bit harder now & they come on.
The day I fixed it, I went to the car, turned the adjustment in tighter 3-4 turns, went for a drive & it worked, the next morning I left for a 1500 mile trip WITH WORKING CRUISE!
It was an aftermarket switch.... about $40
