Post New Windshield...

Got a new windshield because of a small crack becoming 3 foot long, anyways got the best aftermarket windshield (PPG Prostars), had to get a new molding, this all cost me $470 bucks, and this was a deal, considering they were gonna charge me $508. You dont want to go through the hassle of a new windshield...costs way too much, anyways they guy is a pro I tell you, he finished the job in 30 minutes...

cost me a damn arm and a leg...

What caused the small crack on your windshield?
BTW, how much was the dealer charging for a new windshield?

Yup, you should get it repaired when the crack is still repairable. I don't remember but I think the actual crack has to be smaller than the size of a dime? Anyway, reparing it is less expensive than replacing the whole windshield.

the dealer windshield is overpriced like always, I think for just the windshield its about 376 and the molding is an additional 66 bucks and they said that they dont do the installation themselves but call out a company to do it and the labor is 150 bucks... add that up and its close to 600 bucks... PPG Prostar windshields are the best aftermarket windshield made with OEM specifications, meaning you cannot tell the difference between PPG and Honda windows other than the brand name that is engraved on it...every little black dot is the same on both windshields, It is best not to get cheap windshields because they can give you headaches and blurred vision...the crack was caused by a coin thrown from a car in front of me on the highway at about 70-80 mph, which I was tailgating, guessed what happened after that...3 coins were thrown out of my sunroof and onto his car...lol
but that incident was not worth $470...

Nowadays, they can even fix cracks as long as 6 inches, but not longer...

Yeah, insurance usually covers glass. And they don't ding you on additional charges.

Yeah....my guess is that even though you have comphrehensive coverage, they will not consider that as comphrehensive.... Even if you say that the small rock from freeway made a crack on the W/S....
Sucks......

Man what a rip...my insurance company replaced a windshield once just because it had some delaminating bubbles in it. They said any obscured vision is unacceptable & they pay for it!

what?? i just got mine fixed today and it didn't cost me anything, it was PPG also. The insurance should pay for it if you have comp and collision. What is your insurance Co. It also depends on insurance Co. Sorry you had to pay so much. Go after the insurance Co. good luck

in either Connecticut, or just from Liberty Mutual Insurance, if you don't specifically pay for Glass Coverage you will not be covered if something happens.

I have glass coverage and had, if I remember correctly, 4 winshields replaced on my last car in a year and a half. They never asked questions and never raised my insurance rate.

I work for a major insurance company (You're in good ....) and have also made glass claims myself. Your comprehensive coverage would have taken care of this, minus your deductible (if you have one on comp). As far your insurance is concerned, the damage was caused by a rock that was kicked up.
