New Type S owner

I sold my Second Honda S2000 last Thursday and I just picked up a 2002 Pearl White 3.2 TL Type S. One hour of driving it around and I am utterly hooked on this car!

I regularly tracked my S2000's here in Portland and I am interested in trying the TL a few times. What have been member’s experiences?

Upon trying some track maneuvers with the type S on the road, I can tell by simple observations that the TL needs lowering springs and new tires. The car already handles very well and is limited a bit by this.

Base acceleration FEELS faster off the line then my S2000's although statistically the S2000 is faster. I am convinced that acceleration from mid speeds to higher speeds is faster in the type S.

This is my 9th Honda but my first Acura. My list is as follows:

87 CRX Si
88 Civic DX Hatch
93 del Sol Si
95 del Sol VTEC
98 Civic EX
00 CRV
00 S2000
01 S2000
02 3.2 TL Type S

Congratulation on your new ride. Even though I don't have this car anymore, I am still happy for you.

I purchased my first S2000 the day they came out. A year later I traded it in with 5K miles on it for the 2001. I got a real good deal doing this. I had the 2001 for a year and put 4K miles on it.

The S2000 for me was a fair weather only car, it never saw rain. I drove around my 88 Civic DX on rainy days. If you notice where I live , you'll figure out that there are not to many sunny days here lol!

My actual real reason on trading up was because I have 1 18 month old and possibly another on the way soon. My wife only drove in my 2001 S2000 once. I guess at almost 29 I'm tired of driving extremely high revving 4 bangers. I wanted a daily driving car with minimal engine and road noise that provided tons of luxury items yet was a sports car in its own right. I tested all of the competitors. The IS300 similarly equipped was 37K and it felt and looked like a civic. The 325i without all of the items was at 38K (and xeons weren't even added yet). Besides the fact that it's 185hp engine was week. A 330i similarly equipped was 45K+. I looked a long time and honestly, no manufacturer can light a candle to the type S in the class. With new tires and lowering springs, the type S will handle much better then the competition.

this guy lives in Vancouver of Washington state, not Vancouver of British Columbia. Since I don't think you can get a is300, 325i, 330i that cheap while fully loaded. Plus, Canadians 3ers have standard xenons, excluding the 320.

Congrats on the Type-S and your upcoming baby!

Maybe you should've kept the S2000 as a summer car.

Funny thing is that as an S2000 owner, Honda sends you letters in the mail saying "Your Honda S type 2000 needs XXXX".

I simply went from one S type to another.

I have to make the statement that Acura Dealerships are on a completely different spectrum then Honda dealers. Honda dealers are actually some of the worst rated dealerships. Acura dealerships are rated as one of the best. The difference between the 2 boarders on shocking! Acura truly treats you with respect and luxury at the dealership. My life to this point has been wrought with poor Honda dealership service and 1 hour at an Acura dealer immediately tells me that I will drive the extra 25 miles to the Acura dealer to do service!

I AM Surprised that my TLs has so many Honda emblems on it (glass, etc.). I had thought they fixed that on all models except the Integra.

I think only Lexus had changed everything on the car from Toyota from Lexus (galss, etc.)

First, congratulation on your baby. If you have one more coming up. Is the TL-S going to be too small? I notice that you don't have a bigger car in your signature. Did you consider a SUV?

Well, I have 1 18 month old now and another MAY be on the way soon. We'll stop at 2, the S is the largest car I have ever owned and probably ever own. I did look at SUV's. We own a CRV now and it's lease is coming up soon. I was thinking about getting a replacement for it in another small SUV. At work we can get in the X plan for Fords, meaning we can get it factory invoice +4% but I looked at it and the car is way to cheap for $25K, I'll keep my CRV.

They've done studies. They know how this happens.
