Thumbs up New Tranny Update

ok some of u might remember my last post on the tranny thing. Basically went out and then since i was over 100K i didnt have the factory warranty. then i phone Acura's main corp office and talked to them. They offered me the goodwill assistance thing. so they paid for parts (total at $4500) and all i paid was labor ($685) so i received a new tranny and a 3yr 36K warranty. awsome deal. so far no probs and it runs fine. if not screw it i have a warranty now and they will take it and fix it. the wierd thing is that they never put a rebuilt tranny in. they said they put a NEW one in. any of yall heard of that b4. A brand New tranny. were they messing with me. either way for those who have the probelms and are out of the warranty try this. goodluck.

You realy have to hand it to Acura for the way that they have backed their product - out of the "extended" warranty and they still pick up the bulk of the cost. I had an S Class Mecedes and they did the same when the AC's evaprorator went out. As for the new tranny, my '03 TL-S's tranny was replaced at 46K miles with a "remaufactured" one. The service advisor said that it was basically a used case with new internals.

Good luck with your "new" tranny. You might want to sell/trade in your TL before its tranny's "new" warranty expires. I plan to sell mine a little before it hits 100K.

Congrats on your new tranny. Enjoy it. I hope it will run forever for you.
Not to ruin your mood, but Acura does not have new transmission for our cars, as they are not in production anymore. My 2000 TL has 4th tranny that shows signs of problems and I talked to Acura customer service asking to replace it with new, not rebuilt transmission. The answer was “No, we don’t have new transmissions, and will not have them”.
The problem with rebuilt trannys is that you never know what else is there besides 3rd gear pack problem.
