New Tranny shifting rough
New Tranny shifting rough
So i just got my car back from acura a few days ago, with a new tranny. They assured me it would be a post feb 2005 internally updated tranny. However, its been about 300 or so miles since the tranny swap and it still shifts kind of rough. Its not rough enough to make me feel like its failing again, but it seems like a brand new tranny should shift silky smooth, right? I dont think they replaced my ECU, or motor mounts. Anyone have any input on this? I think im going to wait a few hundred more miles before i bring it back to the dealership, to give the tranny a chance to break in. Im also tempted to bring the car for a free tranny inspection at cottmans so i could have some paperwork if the stealership says its good.
Its possible that it wasnt rebuilt properly. There is no way to test them before hand so this kind of thing is possible. I would call the dealer or stop in if you have the time just to make a not with them that it shifts rough. I wouldnt waste my time bringing it any where else
yeah i changed mine about a year ago and its really smooth somethings and then between certain rpm like 2 and 3 it shifts a bit rougher.....but if i step on the gas it shifts fine and if i rev it up a little bit higher its fine its only between those rpm......and under certain levels of acceleration......and i know that my two of my mounts were changed as well........they went right before the tranny did......and the dealer said they wouldn't cover the tranny if i leave with the mounts like that.......so just under 500 i had to pay......for two mounts.......
Describe- kind of rough
Your belief that a new trans should be butter smooth is close, but there
is a reasonable break in period while all the parts mate and mesh.
If it jerks or some other odd thing- then right back to the dealer it goes
and no charge to you- dont worry
Speak DIRECTLY with the Service Manager ONLY
Intake/engine may need a Seafoam treatment so engine smooth-trans smooth
