New Tranny or Rebuilt Tranny

I know this is probably not the right section but at this point i really dont care. i have had it with Acura. i have an 02 TL type S 35,000 miles and the tranny is out. They said they just ordered a new one and it should be there tomorrow. I asked if its a new transmission or a rebuilt one and they stated rebuilt. I am soo pissed off right now this sucks. Why dont they just recall all TL's and burn them to the ground.

There is no such thing as a "new transmission" They are all rebuilt. They take the old bell housing and rebuild the "guts" with new parts. Besides the dirty case, there is virtually no difference between that a new one.

want to know something? i just got a tranny replaced just alittle over a weak ago. guess what? im driving around with red fluid (Tranny fluid) leaking all over the place. it looks like my car is on its period or something. i still love my car man. yeah my "new" tranny is probably gonna die aagain in a few days or so, but come on now, at least theyre doing something to take care of it.

Same thing happened to me on my current tranny. The tranny did not seal up properly.

Alright another Houston TL on the forum.

You have nothing to worry about they'll warranty the tranny to 100K miles.

I'm on my second one and no problems since they replaced it. First one went out at about 37K.
