New TL-S Owner

Been lurking on the boards before purchase.

Made the jump, got a 2003 TL-S w/Navi (floormats, wheel locks, trunk protector, mud guards)... $31750 before CA tax/license/doc... also got 4.99% financing on 60mo with a balance of approx 14.5k.

Did question the dealer on the "Tranny" issue before purchase.

The first sales guy, claimed he never heard of it. I told him, uh, you better go check.. there's bunches of guys on acura-tl.com complaining on it.

Found another guy, he was aware of the problem.. said they replaced about 6 (not clear if he means, "They" as in that dealer, or all of Acura nationwide... obviously the latter is wrong).

Anyways, still bought the car.

Love it so far, coming up from a V8 97 'Tbird. Can't wait to break it in and start to 'push' the TL-S. The Navi absolutely rocks..

I did try out the BMW330i and Infinity G35. BMW330 w/same equipment would be +$10K. G35 is a good car... handles great... if we didn't come to terms with Acura, I would have went with the G35.. but I think Acura TL-S is a better value, and is better long term.... provided no Tranny issue. (knock on simulated wood).

Not sure if I'll add the extended warranty or not... I'm considering it, since I'm already becoming 'attached' to it... go figure.

Anyways, car was manufactured in July 2002... so hopefully some tranny countermeasures have been put into place...

I also brought the car in (1 day after I bought it) to check that water-pump recall...wasn't affected...Whew..

Anyways, I'll be around in the boards.... Good info, Good Site... Keep it up.

b/r,
TheZapper

Welcome! You may want to sign up for "Owner's Link" on Acura.com (manufacturer website). Then you can go online and check your VIN against any recalls that are in progress. Might save you a trip to the dealer.

Hey, if you're thinking of getting the bodykit, watch out for those mud guards. There's some talk about them rubbing the paint off. You wouldn't notice until you have to take them off to put on the bodykit... then it might be too late!

Also, what color did you pick? I saw you have the Navi (good choice in my book!)... and which dealership did you visit?

Later,

V.

Congrats and welcome to the family! Now just remember to fight the temptation until after the break in period!!! It'll be hard but worth it.
