Smile New TL owner

Hi all, I am reletively new to imports, and bought a 03 TL base as a fixer-upper to make into a daily driver instead of my truck. I have always been a huge fan of the forum community and love the amount of info that regular joes can provide and share with others. Anyway, I picked up my 03 tl for $1000, it has 236k miles, and the body is in great shape. The Motor runs great but the transmission is on its way out. I plan on doing the timing belt this week and the rebuilding the trans this fall after I get back from my next deployment. I am not a professional but am (In my opinion) very mechanically inclined

I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on things to address while I have it on blocks. I have already seen the transmission DIY and hope to make my own to piggy back it.

thanks in advance!

I would get a 06-07 honda accord v6 transmission from a junkyard. It will be a lot cheaper and is more reliable than ours. Welcome to the forum.

+1 on the accord tranny. It will be probably the same price or cheaper, more reliable, and less work. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the freedom. Be safe out there.

Hey Apgambino, good to have you aboard. We salute our armed service members for keeping our country free. You got a good deal on the TL.....even if you had to pay someone to swap tranny's, you would still have a bargain. If you have the mechanical skills and integrity to perform the swap yourself, the great brotherhood of 'Ziners are here at your beckoning call, to help support you any way we can.

May God bless you and the U.S.A. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
