New Rims On! (PICS)
Put these on last week and finally got a chance to take some pics. The car was kinda dirty, so its not that shiny. These are the Mille Miglia Action rims. 17x8 with Bridgestone Potenza RE730s 225/45/17. Let me know what you guys think.

Car looks sharp. And good choice on the Mille Miglias. Put the Mille Miglia Sports on my 2000 TL and I love them. I have had them on for a year and they have been great. And in Miami we have our share of terrible roads and they have held up. You will definatly be turning heads with the ride.

wow ZodiakTL nice rims! BTW I'm wonder where did you get the window reflectors from? How much do they cost? Is it the stick on type with adhesives or just slip into the windows? Do you knwo if they make them for the back doors too?

thanks for all the positive comments guys!

the tint is 20% and was done at guaranteed alarms in brooklyn, ny. one of the best tinters around... their tint goes all the way up to the very edge of the window and never comes off or bubbles.

the rims came from tirerack and were about $200 per rim. the tires are about $140 a pop, and all together this cost me a little under $1500, including an extra set of wheel locks.

the sports look awesome, but i wasnt sure how dark rims would look on a black car, but i'm sure they must look amazing on a silver TL. if you have any pics, post them!

I'm planning to be there and will be signing autographs ... but really that will probably end up being the largest meet in the area

the wind deflectors came from www.weathertech.com and i think they cost about $50. unfortunately they dont make them for the rear and dont have any plans. when i asked why, they said that due to their design model(they just slip into the windows) there wouldnt be enough force to hold them in when the ur driving with windows open i have a beautiful set of rain guards for my 00TL(you can see it in my gallery under my sig) that i got through snook from japan, but he doesnt carry them anymore, and i cant find them anywhere else..

Sweet rims -- nice tires, couple questions:
1. Do you feel a better throttle response, and if so, is it because these new wheels are lighter -- if so, how much lighter (stock is 26.5 lbs per wheel).
2. Do you get a better launch w/ the new tires .. do you feel it biting in better?
3. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A SPOILER BRO????
It would look ultra-sweet w/ yer ride!

I honestly don't know what the offset is. I trust tirerack in terms of what they will recommend, as i don't know of anyone who's had problems after going with things they recommended. I've experienced some rubbing in the rear only under heavy loads or VERY hard cornering, and have narrowed it down to that little platic bit that sticks out from the bumper into the wheelwell in the rear.

These rims are not that much lighter - 23lbs (but every little bit helps )
2. Do you get a better launch w/ the new tires .. do you feel it biting in better?
I definitely get a MUCH better launch with these tires. I can now consistently get those head-pushed-into-headrests starts when doing WOT.
3. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A SPOILER BRO????

I had a spoiler on my 00TL and loved it, but decided to go without spoiler on this one, i think it looks a little cleaner. The best part is that I can always put one on later, whereas if i'd have gotten it right away, i wouldn't have the option to take it off.

Zodiak:
I think they are there just to add a bit more strength to the polyprope material or comply with some retarded Federal rule.
After I cut them, I sanded the rough edges a bit, and finished off with some touch up paint - have had no peeling, as this is likely already painted with an antiflex additive.
BTW, here's an old mechanic's trick to detect where rubbing occurs: place masking tape along the suspected area - when the tire rubs, it will either leave rubber marks or tear away the tape, showing the area needing attention. Vaseline also works, you just get really funny looks from your wife...

Did the tires also come from Tiretrack? Do you notice any difference in the ride with those tires? I think the '02 3.2TL-S rides a bit harsher with more tire noise than the '99 3.2TL I had previously. Rougher ride I can understand with the beefed up suspension on the TL-S but why more tire noise, especially from the oem Michelin Pilots the TL-S comes with.
I run the Michelins with exactly 32lbs so I am at recomended psi. Don't get me wrong i'm not running out to change rides I just can't pinpoint why there seems to be more tire/road noise in the car.

the tires also came from tirerack and i had them mounted and balanced for free by tirerack and it handles very well, i thought they did a good job balancing all four wheels.
the ride is definitely much harsher then it was. the lower the profile of the tire gets the harsher the ride will feel. after driving this way for about a week, i got into my 00TL which is running 225/55/16 pirelli SS7000's and i felt like i got into a caddy - amazingly soft and transmits almost no road feel compared to the current TL-S setup. great for when ur tired and just wanna cruise on home, but i don't know how i thought it was really good before
in terms of road noise, i believe it has to do with the design of the tire itself. the michelins are put on to be a very general purpose tire - more sporty than on TL, but still somewhat comfortable in terms of ride and noise for the average enthusiast. i believe the stock tires on TL have a much softer and taller sidewall which allows for more noise to be absorbed and also since there's more flex it doesnt hit the same imperfections in the road with as much punch and noise. where as the lower profile on the TL-S lets u hear and feel more of it. In my case, since the rims i got are 17x8, i'm putting down a lot more tire to the ground than on a 17x6.5 rim, even though the tread width might be close, so i think that would account for some road noise as well. and finally, since i drive faster with this setup, i dont blast the music, because i need to concentrate on the driving, so all the sounds are much more obvious.
