Hello All --
I am new to this board, although I have been lurking a couple of weeks. I have a 00 SSM TL-P in the garage with 89000 miles that my wife drives, and I just purchaed an 03 EBP TL-P with 39000 this weekend that is my daily driver. I'm not much into modding, but I like convenience items. Right now the only non-stock item is a K&N filter on the 03, but I was thinking about switching to the IceBox which seems to have some good reviews. That might come in a few months.
Anyway I have two questions....
First. Does anyone else have a problem with the right read door panel (inside) separating where the hard plate (with the window switch and "storage area") meets the door panel? Both of mine have the same problem and I am wondering if it is a class problem.
Second. The previous owner of the 03 claims that he never got 29 mpg, at best 27 but more likely 26 on the highway. He also stated that "the car is used to 89 octane". My immediate thought is that these two statements are connected, as my wife's 00 gets 29 on long trips. Should I switch to 91? Would Seafoaming help?
All imput is appreciated...
Thanks

Welcome to the forums!
1. Yes, the separating of the inner door panel vinyl is a popular problem among the 2nd gen TLs. Many people have solved the problem w/ glue.
2. Yes, lower octane can lower gas mileage. The recommended octane on the TLs is 91 or 93 octane. I would switch to 91 octane and throw in some Gumout Regain Fuel Injector Cleaner. Seafoaming would also help.

Thanks for the info
I think I am going to try to get the dealer to cover the door panel problem while under warranty. I don't see why I couldn't convice them to take care of it, especially with my wife's panel so much worse.
Anyone have any success in that angle?
