This is my first time here and I need help. I have a 2001 3.2TL and I would like to change my mufflers and want to spend as little as possible (see, I'm a police officer and the pay sucks!). I just want something that would help out the sound and look of my stock exhaust system.

Flowmaster, DynoMax, MagnaFlow, give me some advice.

Later down the road I plan on changing the entire system but for now, I want to help the car out a little.

I've had the car 2 months, and I just ordered 18" wheels for it (they're in and tires will be in Tuesday)

Anyways, If have to choose within 3 of them, megnaflow got my vote. I heard a sound clip of megaflow on a TL, that was damn nice..

Well, I haven't always been a cop, if you know what I mean. I'm into performance. I recently sold a 2001 Yamaha R-6 that was modified.
And if another cop pulled me over for a loud can, I'd laugh. Hell, I never hassle anyone with one.

I wonder where I can find a sound clip of a MagnaFlow on a TL??????????

 

Cops in Hattiesburg pull me over for about everything on my car... at least there seems to be one good police officer in the state of MS!!!

 

I will say this to you as I say to everyone else. Comptech exhaust was born to be put on the TL. CT exhaust whether it's cat or not it's the perfect match. Pricey (500-1K) but well worth the investment. I think there's a waiting list till December so that'll give you some time to save up for them.

 

it will probably be another month or two before I'm able to save up, so that gives me plenty of time to research different exhaust options.

You've come to the right place then. but that means you'll be spending paycheck to paycheck on car mods

tons and tons of good info here in the forums... look around. you'll learn a lot and love your TL even more! welcome aboard!

 

see if you can find a comptech exhaust used in the black market section of this forum or on ebay. its the best quality and will last the longest.
i love mine. and if you choose you can make them quieter by buying the quiet tip inserts.
