I just got a job out of college and my '95 Mustang GT was becoming unreliable so I bought an '03 TL-S w/ navi last week. So far I love the car and it's a huge step up in comfort from my old mustang. I picked it up for $13,900 w/ 67K on the odo which is pretty good in my area but it does need to get the front brake rotors turned. I understand that the brakes are a weak link on our cars, but do you guys recommend just getting the rotors turned or new ones completely?

It's also missing the stereo/navi security codes that I need if I want to change the batterand the dealer wanted $120 to look at the serial numbers behind the units...it sounds ridicolus to me. Is it easy enough to get back there?

Anyway, this website looks to be a really cool reference and I'm glad that I joined!

Nice!! Great deal. I would go with rotora slotted rotors and get rid of the stock ones. Once you turn them, the will just keep warping. I did the rotoras on the front only and I like them. I've never had the issue of trying to retrieve the code from the dealer but it is my understanding that a dealer can give you your codes based on the VIN. I am not sure if anyone can confirm that or not. Hope you enjoy the car and welcome to the forum.

Welcome aboard... You'll find out probably anything you want to know from this forum from just using that very special button, "Search"... As for your rotor problem, If your going to do the work yourself, I would just purchase new rotors, they're not too horrible expensive. Good luck with the Car!

With me I had to get new rotors I was told mine where so bad they couldnt be turned. As for the radio I heard of you turn off the radio hold in 1 and 6 and turn it on some number should appear and you can take that to acura. As for the are itself it sounds like a great deal and enjoy it.

You will need to remove the radio from the dash console to obtain the serial number from it- take that to the dealer and they will look up the code at no charge
The money they wanted was to remove the radio itself to get the numbers.

Its best to look in the glove box for a biz card from the dealer with numbers on it, hopefully a handwritten set of 5 numbers. Some people write them down on the edge of the glovebox or center storage or inside the fuse box. Look everywhere for a number like 16043, thats your radio code.

If your car was registered with Acura Customer Care (which you should do) they may have the code stored too.

Yeah, I'll look around for that number. Do you know if the navi has its own code also? is there a DIY for removing the navi screen to get that code? It seems stupid to me that acura builds these systems with security codes if you can just get the code from the dealer from the serial number on the back of the unit. How does that prevent theft?
