welcome to the forum

have a read down the main thread titles, and the special section- problems and fixes
most questions are already there
the diy list section is 3rd item down the main list for gen2

register with acura as the new owner 1-800-382-2238x5
ask if all recalls are completed
register here and get online owner book -lots of trick systems and tips for the TL
http://owners.acura.com/registration...erstepone.aspx
you can access your cars history there and store the radio security codes too

is the external oil jet kit installed on the trans top center?-
has the trans been replaced?
you can tell that by looking at the bolts on the trans end--painted blue is acura
warranty unit

if its original stay with 1, 3 qt change using honda z1 atf
read about probs of high miles trans and full capacity changeouts--not good

use the right plugs-not cheap but the best for the car= ngk Iridium

engine oil and filter is your choice--everyone loves whatever they choose!!
5w-30 normal areas ,,overnights below freezing use 0w-20 for better cold start protection
Always use 91 octance gas or higher, never lower

its time for coolant change, brake fluid,ps fluid
and be aware the `105`/timing belt water pump job is due at 105 or 7 year-whichever first,,time is bad for rubber belt
another not cheap item, but the only major service the car gets

That all sounds good. Make sure to use SeaFoam in the crankcase, throttle body vacuum port, and gas tank. I use Amsoil for engine oil and ATF. Great stuff.

I can speak for Amsoil. When I got my TL last December, I noticed an occasional shudder between 2nd and 3rd. I changed to Amsoil Synthetic Universal ATF, and the shuddering stopped. It also shifts firmer than before. It went from a luxury shift to more of a performance shift. I'm not saying the car's 'performance' increased, but it's a firmer shift than before.

I did the change in ATF gradually. I did standard 3.5qt changes about a month apart instead of the 3x3 method. So far, so good (knock on wood). I pay homage to the tranny gods. I have a 2.5 gallon jug just waiting for more changes. I was going to use it on my son's Ford Escape, but the shifting problem turned out to be something else. Frankly, that POS is not worthy of Amsoil.

Just borrowing this thread from teamleader

How often should the transmission fluid be changed? My TL has 178K. Tranny was replaced 40K ago.

I dont think we have the air plate in the seafoam diy--

remove top engine cover plastic
remove air tube from air filter box to engine
you are looking at the TB open end-
spray the round plate inside
operate throttle via assembly there, it opens plate to get the back and edges with carb cleaner
wipe up runoff

wd or silicone spray or deep creep all work well for the lube on spring assembly
