New ATF in 2001's??
"ATF-Z1
This new formulation of ATF will be in all '01 automatic transmission-equipped vehicles. This fluid back- full fits to all Honda A/T applications and can be added to transmissions using the previous Honda
ATF. However, the previous Honda ATF cannot
be used to "top-off" '01 models with factory fill
ATF-Z1."
I came upon this in a pro tech forum.
There is also a special tranny fluid for the Insight's CVT tranny - since it has special needs, I am going to check with Honda engineering to see if this is compatible with the regular AT's. If so, its special high temp stabilizers and shear protectors might provide an edge for the rest of us.

BTW, couldn't you have tweaked this info into a new QOTD?
Good find. If you don't mind me asking, what forum did you find this in? I'd love to peek in, and expand my knowledge.
Keep up the good work RR. And please don't give up on the QOTD. I'm sure there are lots of folks that appreciate sharing you wisdom (myself included.)

If I tell you, I will have to kill you!
Sorry, pros only - I have to maintain some professional dignity and anonymity to be effective.
Rest assured if I think it helps the Forum, I will post it!
On the other hand, as you already know, I am not shy about questioning chat room gossip and untutored orthodoxy.
Had I lived 600 years ago, I would no doubt have been fried as a heretic.
I am not little, Bio, as my old drill instructor at Ft. Bragg learned one time during a friendly PT drill in the 82nd. (if any of you youngsters know what that means).
Cheers!

We used to have boxing every morning as part of PT, and to settle squabbles. My DI had it in for me since I was "an intellectual". Well, I was 6'2" and 175 of muscle back then, and I managed to put his **** in the dirt, as we say down south. I am still six-two, but am now at 208 due to weight training and the inevitable effects of 25 years of the good life.
So I may be a spy/mole, but I aint little
