New to Acura and Acurazine

Hey everybody, just picked up a 99 TL a few weeks ago. I've been lurking around on the site for a while, trying to gather as much info w/o being a noob as possible, haha. BTW, the transmission in my car is less than 2 years old, so hopefully I won't be having to worry about the transmission problems I've seen were so prevalent. It was replaced by Acura.

The insurance company bought me the Acura after my 99 Mustang was totaled in a hit and run. I'm familiar with forums (having spent most of my driving age at www.mustangevolution.com) and familiar with cars. I spent a lot of money on looks and handling in the Mustang, but probably won't be spending a ton of money on the Acura... I just need it to get me through school, haha.

I still have a few questions that I either can't find answers to or can't find answers to my satisfaction, so I'm hoping you can help me with these. Thanks in advance!

My car is silver, sometimes looks gold. What color is that?

Is there anything useful that can be done with that stupid CD holder?

My cupholder's spring is out, can that be replaced on my own? If not, then I'm just not going to worry about it. I'm not taking a 10 year old Acura to a stealership to replace a spring in a cupholder door.

Can anybody point me to a how-to on replacing headlight bulbs/removing the bumper? I've seen a few, but not one that made me feel good about doing this in a garage yet. It was so easy on my Mustang... haha. Two pieces of metal just slid out, the headlight came out, unscrew the bulbs and you're done. This looks like a pita. And I'm leaving for the beach tonight and would rather not have a headlight go out while on an 8 hour round trip drive...

Thanks for all your help!

I'm not seeing an edit button, so sorry for the double post....

I have a pioneer single-din headunit I was going to put in my Mustang before the accident, but obviously didn't get a chance to. Can single dins fit in this car, or double dins? Sorry for the noob questions, but I've never had such an annoying stereo set up.

First of all, welcome to THE BEST forum on the planet! We are glad you are on board.

Second, I would request that you click on this link and read all of the "Sticky" posts at the top of the 2nd Gen forum. They will supply you with a ton of information, especially the DIY list.

https://acurazine.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=98 The sticky's will be down about half way on that page

To answer you question regarding the stereo, yes you can fit both a single din and double din deck in your TL. You don't need to remove the bumper to replace the headlight bulbs. You simply have to unscrew the circular casing the protects the HID bulb on the back of the headlight housing. You'll need a torx t-20 screw bit to get the one screw out that holds the casing on. It's easy to spot the casing I'm referring to because it's in the middle of your headlight assembly with a big warning sticker on it. All accessible from under the hood.

Oh and welcome to the forum, TONS of great info here and awesome members that are always willing to lend a hand and an opinion.

Welcome!

AcuraZine is by far the best automotive forum I have been on. Alot of information, and great members to help out!

And, I'm not sure on the color of your car. I always thought the only silver color was SSM (Satin Silver Metallic) Any other silver color I don't know about?
