C'mon sick, you need to know more about Acura before you talk $hit. The EL is just an upscale civic in Canada ONLY and therefore badged as an Acura. But now I guess they're bringing it to the US. I don't know why since we already have a million civics?!!

Black, what I am saying is Acura is too weird. I mean, how can anyone take a Acura Civic (EL) serious? Why would you do this to yourself? They have the great TL and CL, the RSX is good too and then surround with an EL and a RL???? WTF?? Hell the MDX is a winnner too.

IMO, the EL KILLS any image Acura has. It's like a Neon badged Benz.

Hell remember the CADDY CImmeron!?!?:wow: :yack:

yup, I own one too. Not unlike the Acura Accord.

In Europe (where it's Honda, no Acura) they are dropping the RL (it's still the Legend there) cause they have sold maybe 50. The new Accord will be the largest car and renamed the Legend there.

Funny but they LOVE the Accord-R and NSX-R there but alas, they are not sold here.

Sometimes I wonder what Acura is thinking too when it comes to its line-up.

Oh let's not talk about the cimmeron.:yack: I wonder what is better, a cimmeron or a yugo?

Some people just want a nice clean cheap car. Not all people want to spend 30k and up on a car. So for that kind of buyer the car is perfect!

wrong...
EL was so successful in Canada...they are coming to US coz corolla and focus are offering leather seats and stuff...they need to keep up the competition...

and it's quieter and better build quality than the civic

You americans have to understand that this is not a new car altogether. It has been around since the last-gen integra...first in the form of the 1.6 EL and just recently as the updated 1.7 EL.

Back in the mid-late 90's(I think around 97ish), Acura realized that Canadians in that demographic were more inclined to buy a 4-dr that was more practical than sporty. Hence, Canada got the 2-dr integra and 4-dr EL(which replaced the 4-dr integra)...whereas the U.S. retained both 2-dr and 4-dr models of the integra.

Now that the RSX has replaced the integra as Acura's entry-level car, and it being only a 2-dr model with no 4-dr model available, it was only a matter of time before the EL was introduced to the states to recover some of the sales lost with the demise of the 4-dr integra.

What really surprises me though is that Acura decided not to replace the EL with the TSX as its entry-level car...evidence that the EL is still a big seller and that Acura is unwilling to axe it.

As for the comment of the EL looking like a civic...uhh, they are based on the same platform, as was the integra and the current RSX...which is the "Honda Global Compact Platform" aka civic platform.

It is a civic...the civics in asia are using the 1.7EL body...
just with better interior and a 127hp engine...

the VTEC engine isn't available for any 4 door civics here in canada...

this car is gd...but not my cup of tea...
we almost bought this car when we were thinking of a second car...just was THAT close...

but i will pick the accord LX over the 1.7...they have the simliar sticker price...i can give up heated seat and leather seats...

You bet that they're serious!!!

1. Chevy Cavalier was the best selling car in Canada until 2000.

2. Now it's the Honda Civic that's #1.

3. Hint , The number one selling cars in Canada are small cars.

4. the average Cdn makes less money on a 1:1 ratio when compared to our US friends.

5. This car is a hot seller in our country.

6. it came out in 1997.

They do have that hehe, ES300, like you stated. I regard the IS300 as a Corolla, b/c of how it is marketed in Japan and its size.

that car will never come out in america. That is way to close to a civic. Acura of america will never make the mistake of bringing out that car.
