Had my windshield cracked too last wk by a rock when I was behind a stupid ass Tahoe. Mine is not as bad as fsttyms1 but it's more like a crack.
What I fear most is that it will start running & the crack will be across the whole windshield.

Tiny windshield pits
When driving into the sun, when the angle is just right, I see all kinds of tiny pits- about the size of a grain of sand - in my windshield. They sparkle and are very distracting. There are about five and I only have 2,000 miles on the car.
What causes these? Can I expect the windshield to eventurally be covered by these pits? Is the glass soft or what?

A guy I work with was looking at 2 different used cars to buy, while both were local owners and had about the same mileage, one was driven locally, while the other one was used by a salesperson who spent most of their time on the Interstate/turnpike. The windshield on the car that spent more time on the Interstate/turnpike was much more pitted.

I have 80k miles on my car and I probably have 500. Another reason why I might just replace the windshield entirely.

"really? any kind of windsheild problem?"
Any kind. You should have it in your policy, though. Not sure how much does it cost - I believe not much. In four years I've changed windshield twice - first time with the OEM part ($683) and just recently by the "Giant Glass" (slightly over $300). BTW, I couldn't find any visible difference between OEM and aftermarket.
Fsttyms1 (couldn't figer WTH is that ), good luck to you!

We had a small pit on another my mom's car a few years back, and when it snowed and iced, I guess water got into the pit and then froze, which sent a huge crack through the windshield. Insurance paid for it, but we had to pay $50 deductible. That wasn't too bad. fsttyms1, you may want to check with the insurance.
