Need some TB help and some advice

Okay I have an 00 TL-P with about 136k. Just today my car started reving up and down only in park and neutral. I only drove 15 miles like this til I parked the car. I did some searching and from what I got my problem would be the IAC valve and maybe the egr ports. So I looked at the egr valve and or port DIY. No the q's I have is on the throttle body the IAC is on the bottom but what do i do to clean it? Do i take it off and clean it? Do I take it apart. Is it best to go ahead and try to clean the EGR port and valves also. Here is a pic of the TB so someone can point out what exactly to clean. All advice is welcomed.

Depending on how the crank-case ventilation gets routed it may just be loaded with oil vapor buildup.

I say if it looks easy to take off, go ahead and remove it. poke around. give it a couple shots with brake parts cleaner. the worst that can happen is you'll want a new gasket (if applicable) upon reassembly. If the motor is what's acting up and you buy a new assembly, you'll already be prepared to do a quick job of exchanging it.

Its on the bottom of the TB, That is your problem. You can just simply use carb cleaner to clean it.

Kool I just took the whole upper manifold off cause none of the local part stores carried the tb gasket. plus it is super dirty. So now that I have it off. dont I have to take this piece off at the top right corner of this pic before i rinse water down it? and dont does this bolts also highlighted have to be torqued down in a specific order and a like a certain pounds? Same as the 99?

see this thead for all you need on specs and what to do for proper cleaning of EGR ports

The TB itself- turn upside down and there should be 2 screws- remove those and the cover they secure- there you find the IACV- spray with carb cleaner

Okay so you know how they said dont over torque well I did it anyway and broke one because I and the guy at the autoparts store didn't know how to set the torque wrench. So after i broke it i figured out how to use that thing. So I got another bolt but it is not the same. The size is the same but its a differnt bolt. I was wondering if this wil play a part or am i good and dont have to call acura to get the right bolt.

thats a critical place and special bolt with the built in washer seat so it spreads the torque across a surface
You should be able to find at the hardware store. Tell them you need the same thing and same GRADE of bolt- its for an engine. They will know what to hook you up with
Or a small import parts store- maybe even big parts store on the help rack
Before removing any bolt anywhere- if you give the wrench-ratchet a gentle pull so you can see how much muscle effort it resist, and feel much pull effort it took to remove.
Those bolts are 16 ft lbs iirc- thats not really much more than a medium pull on the ratchet. The wheels when on properly are 80 ft lbs- as a comparison

Okay now that I got it back together it is still doing the same damn thing. When I hit the gas in park it revs up and down between 1k and 2k. I cleaned my egr port and i sprayed the 3 holes on the iac valve. What is my problem?????

Well either your IAC is stuck or shot, or you have a vacuum leak

when you hit the iac up with carb cleaner, do you have to make sure it is all dried and wiped clen before re-installing, or is it fine to just put it back in with the carb cleaner on it.

I guess my IAC was shot cause i went to acura and purchased one for 170 bucks and now it works great. After cleaning the egr ports it idles a hell of a lot smoother too. Thanx for all the info and help. Oh yea another thing i noticed when i torqued the IM bolts down some spinned more than the others. So I didnt keep turning them. I just let it be and torqued what i could. Is that something that i might regret later. I mean i dont hear any whistling sounds.

torque is a measure of force that is determined with a special tool
Are you using one or just tightening them by feel

then the bolts should become snug tight at spec- not turning easily
