Need Some Opinions

Well....unfortunately I got into a minor accident today. Not gonna bore you with the details but as you can tell, it was my fault. Just happened to look down when the person in front of me slammed on their brakes and by the time I looked up it was to late. I was wondering if you guys think my hood needs to be replaced or will a good body shop be able to straighten it out? It sticks up a little along the quater panel on the drivers side. Let me know what you think.

Yeah, I was happy about missing the headlights too. I already ordered the new grill and hope to have it by Monday or Tuesday. I figure I can replace it myself for a lot cheaper than the dealer can. I am really just concerned about the hood because I can get it cheaper and replace it myself, then just have the body shop paint it. But that's only if it can't be repaired.

Ouch...hurts lookin at it, the body shop is prolly gonna jack u charge u to fix the dent and charge u to repaint the whole hood. Doesn't hurt to get a quote I guess, but hit up the junk yards you might get lucky with a silver 02-03 TL hood for less than what the body shop is gonna jack u for

I went to go get a quote yesterday right after it happened but my body shop was closed. I'll have to wait till tomorrow I guess. I've already looked in junkyards in my area for some other things and there are no TL's to be found. I'll just have to wait to talk to the body shop and see if they can fix the hood or not. That will probably be the deciding factor if I go through insurance or not.

Wow J, sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident. Looks like you're going to need some hood and bumper work done. I know you take good care of your car and seeing it like this must be killing you right now. Last year some chick rear ended me at a stoplight while I was on my way to work, so I know how you feel.

ahh sorry to hear bro. i had a minor...well scratch that...major front end collision last year and i had it ended up coming out to 5400 in parts alone -- fenders, hood, mounts, radiator, headlights, grill, etc, etc.

your hood looks like it could be fixed. does it still close? did the the impact cause the hood to produce a crease tire to tire and arch up in the middle? if not, it def looks like it wont be replace.

good luck bro!

The hood still closes fine but there is a crease in the front. Just the one that you can see in the pic. It doesn't go from one side to the other like you mentioned. I would rather not have to replace the hood because a new one would be so damn expensive...and I would rather just pay for the repairs myself but if it gets to expensive then I'll just make a claim on my insurance. I have a $500 deductible so we'll see what happens. Sounds like you had quite a wreck though...sorry to hear about that.

Glad to hear that the hood is fixable. I've already ordered the grill so I should be good with that. The bumper isn't gouged deep but the plastic was scraped a little. I am not sure if it is something that they can fill or not. Thanks for the info.

Just got my quote...$1823.50. That's to replace the hood and the front bumper. The hood is creased in to many spots for them to fix and the bumper has to deep of a gouge. And it will probably take 3-4 days. I got into an argument with the estimator because the are going to charge me to paint match the fenders...that's fine, but they won't paint match my front lip. He said it's an aftermarket part and they don't cover that. It's the OEM lip and attached to the bumper that they are painting, why in the hell would you not paint it?? So I went and got an estimate from another place and they quoted me a little more and also won't paint match it. So I am just gonna have to pay the extra $$ it looks like.

Yeah, I agree. I am going through my insurance company now so we will see what happens. Drop the car off tomorrow and pick up my rental. Can't wait to see what I'm gonna get.

I dropped off my car today and picked up my rental...a 2006 Galant. I can't stand driving it. I feel like I am in a truck, it's so high off the ground. Anyhow, got my quote on painting the rear bumper side skirts and rear lip...$498. I didn't think that was to bad, so I am gonna have them go ahead and do it. The other work still sits at about $1800 and they are going to paint match my front lip. I should get a call tomorrow on how long it will take, hopefully only a couple days.
