need shock upgrade advice PLEASE

i have 1.25 inch eibach drop with stock shocks. they have been working for 3 yrs this way. then theres the 19 inch wheels with 35 profile. rough ride.

can you give me some advice on how to get a better ride with out buying coilovers. i guess more firm, solid, but not rough if possible. i know nothing about shocks, so please educate.

Bebber advised tokicos.

thankx

What's happening here is you have given up 1.25 " of travel from your shocks and the soft flex of the sidewall of the bigger stock tires. Yes the car looks cool but unfortunately the ride suffers. From some car magazine get the number for Konig and ask them - they may have a shock that will fix the problem as theirs are height AND firmness adjustable.

I like Tokico's in general. I've run both the HP's and Illumina's. On my TL, I've got the Illumina's and have been pleased with the performance. Being 5 way adjustable, you can taylor the ride to your liking.

Tokico stands behind their product. I ran a set for 10 years and they replaced them without a question or hassle. They earned my loyalty.

thats how the car looks like with h&r sport springs and koni yellow adjustable shocks

the konis were used for about 3 months
perfect condition
no rust
no leaks
very clean
looks like new
$400 plus shipping for the shocks
if you are interested i have h&r sport springs as well
it drops that car like in the picture

gonna go even lower with newly acquired apex ws coilovers

koni's must find a new home

tokico = more like stock
koni = more better with lowered cars goes well with h&r sport
yellow = color
yellow = adjustable
you can make it soft / hard and higher or lower perches

HP's are the standard gas struts - a bit firmer than stock. Illuminas are Tokico's adjustables(1 thru 5) #1 settings is pretty close to stock. #5 if you're going to autocross or put it on the track. #2 is pretty good for everyday. #3 if I want to do some aggressive driving in the mountains.

The Koni's with the adjustable perches is a nice feature if you want the flexability of adjusting the height of your car.

Can't go wrong with either the Koni's or Tokico Illuminas.

hey teamtourismo,

how come you decided to go with the koni's vs the tokico? do you think its worth the additional money? i believe for a couple of hundred bucks more you can get tiens.....right now im debating between the two right now. koni's or tiens.

btw, how do you like them compared to stock? im looking for something to give me more control without losing any of the stock feel. right now i have HR OEs with stock shocks.

I have Illuminas paired with Comptech springs and I couldn't be happier. Paid about $440 shipped for the Illuminas, and they were definately worth it. I usually have them set at 3 for daily driving, 1 if I'm going on a road trip.
