Hi, I'm new here. I'm looking around for instructions on how to program a new key since I bought my '03 TL-S used and only came with one key. I searched, but all I kept coming up with is instructions on how to program the keyfob, but nothing for the key itself. Any ideas?

Thanks!

This is what i found. Try it out

What you need
1...your new key

2...a MASTER KEY (a key that works)already programmed to car.

to program the transponder- (thats the immobilizer part)

sitting in dr. seat, put the master key in ignition, and turn to on.engine OFF. press the gas pedal 5 times to
floor and release. now press brake 6 times (press and release)

remove master key from ignition. install new key and turn to on...engine off. press gas to floor once. now wait.
the security light will blink for about 45-60 seconds, then it will go off if you did it correctly. once the light
is off, car should start.

So does this program the key or does it disable the immobilizer?

Does that actually program the key itself or does it just teach the car to accept that key in addition to the already authorized key?

I think the car just accepts that new key...I find it difficult to believe the car is capable of rewriting the RFID in the key, although I'm sure the stores have the capability to write it to the key.

I personnally think you should get your key at the acura dealership. I got mine programmed and cut for about $35.I gave him the vin from my registration and ID for security of themselves and he cut and program the key.The parts guy came out and made sure the car started and everything. And you get an original.(Sierra Acura Alhambra).

I tried to do the step above, but it didn't work.
Am I missing some thing?
Is there specific timing when I need to step on the gas or brake? Brake pedal become hard after a few pumps.
Anyone tried this and successful? Please let me know. Thank you.
