Need help with potential BS

Hey guys and gals, I raced an Integra the other day on the highway and I was rather surprised. As far as I could tell, he just had a HUGE exhaust. Anyway, you could easily tell when he punched it so I would too. I could just barely gain on him from 70-100 (all 3rd gear of course). Once, I let him pass me while I cruised at 70 then I floored it and he couldn't pull on me. He got off the highway and I followed him to a redlight.

He said he didn't have anything on his car except the exhaust. Is that true???? If it is true, then I can understand the popularity of the little Acura...

What level Integra was he driving? LS, GS...? 5 spd?
As a former Integra owner, 5spd, LS, they are pretty quick little cars. Granted, I didn't have the VTEC engine you would fine in a GS-R but the LS 5 spd was pretty impressive. I have driven the GS-R and that car moves. As far as your question goes, I don't really think I understand what you are asking.

The Integra GS-R, with 170 hp, is a pretty quick little semi-luxury coupe. And the Type-R, with 195 hp, is unbelievably fast!

It's quite possible. That's why the GS-R is highly-respected amongst import racers. I had a '97 GS-R and loved it -- tons of fun.

I don't know anything about Integras. I don't know if it was a Type-R, GS-R, or LS. I couldn't even guess on the year.

So if you're saying that an essentially stock Integra could hang with a stock TL-S from 70-100+, then I totally see the reason for the large following. I didn't know they were that fast. In light of this, the thread saying that the TL blew away a turbocharged Integra is questionable....

Not pulling the B.S. flag on anyone, anything is possible.

I don't know much about them also. I can tell you this it was not your base Integra with auto tranny for sure. My ACURA dealership gave me a 2001 Integra Loaner when my car was in for service & warranty work.
This car had an auto tranny & it was slow no pep at all.
I am not use to driving 4 cyl cars with automatic tranny. This car felt slower than my 90 Accord LX 5sp & for sure my 94 Accord EX 5sp with VTEC.

Hardly semi-luxury. I used to own one. It's a civic with a better engine and different body.
