When I put my TL (second gen) in D5, sometimes the green light for D5 lights up, and sometimes it does not, most of the time it does not. This alone wouldn't be too bad, but when the D5 light isn't on and I try to use the tiptronic, the red number displaying the gear I am in doesn't light up. When I wiggle the shifter while keeping it in the same gear, the light goes on and off, but ultimately stays off. Unfortunately I don't know too much about cars, but is there anything I can do to fix the problem? All of the other gear lights (N, R, D4, D3, 2, and 1) work fine, it is just D5 and the tiptronic numbers. I am guessing there is a problem with a connection somwhere, but I wouldn't know where to look.

i have the same problem but its only the D5 that never lights up, happened a month ago and came back on for a few days and now its gone for good..
