Need help brake pedal switch plz.
Greetings,
I've recently acquired an '03 TL-S. Turnersville Auto Mall practically gave it away to me. Anyways, I'm installing a brake light bypass switch. I found a switch at Radio Shack that fits perfectly in the blanked spot next to the instrument panel dimmer.
The brake pedal switch has several wires in its plug. I'm looking to cut one of the wires and reroute it to the switch's two terminals. The goal is to be able to apply the brakes without lighting the tail lights.
Can someone please post a diagram of the brake pedal switch? This will be the first and last time I mooch a diagram; promise! I will order the Helms manual when I get paid next.
Thanks in advance,
Lou Goddard

My girlfriend works nights in a bad part of town. I've had to creep up on her workplace late at night after receiving a frantic call from her. Some thing along the lines of, "I heard someone in the parking lot. Come make sure it's okay!" In my previous vehicle, I would coast into the parking lot in neutral with the lights off. I would use the parking brake to avoid turning on the brake lights. The Acura's parking brake does not have a separate release handle like my previous car. It would be easier to disconnect the rear lights with a switch than try to fumble with the "push pedal to release" parking brake.
I found a diagram for an 2001 S2000 that uses the same stop light switch as an 03 TL. It appears that one wire leads directly to the fuse box under the hood, while the other one connects to the lights, ABS, shift lock, etc. I'll have to double check it and put a multi meter on it.
This is also handy if you drive with a radar detector. The cops won't be able to see you brake suddenly if they light you up with radar. This is a bit of a double edged sword though; other drivers won't be able to see you brake either. A momentary-open switch would be the best solution. You won't be able to accidentally leave your brake lights disconnected. If you use a non-momentary the shift lock will remind you each time you shift from park to drive/reverse.
