need help!! Asap

Okay I'm stuck in houston and I got no electricity

I didnt drive my car before and after IKE hit
but now when I turn on my car the rpm goes up and down
I did a search and found that it is because of the IACV or watever

So does anyone have a DIY with pictures and step by step

Also does driving around like this affect my car in any bad way

Need help

Look at the bottom of the TB. There is a small device held on with 2 philps screws that hold it on. Remove them (helps having a stubby screw driver) then with some carb cleaner or sea foam and old tooth brush clean it.

Driving shouldnt hurt it but will be difficult to drive in that condition. Also just simply driving it may help clear it up but i would still clean it. When done cleaning apply a small amount of WD40 to it to help keep it lubricated.

Nguyen,

If you want to make a road trip down the coast, I can give you a hand changing it out. We have electricity and A/C here. I good 200 mile drive might be extra good for cleaning out the carbon and get your mind off Houston.

If your EGR passageways are restricted, it can also cause a poor idle or even stalling. Just something to check if still having problems.

Did you disconnect the battery? You didnt do anything to the throttle cables. Your VSA light, Are you sure every thing is plugged in. Go back and double check. Check the VSA throttle body (the one before the TB). Also try resetting the ECU by pulling the clock backup fuse

I was interested in this comment because I want to clean the bleed valve on a Honda Civic. So carb cleaner is OK for that and it is good to lube it with a little WD40 afterwards? That was what I was going to do but wanted to be sure I wouldn't damage the electrical part of it. From the drawing of the part in the manual it looks like the valve part is separate from the solenoid portion, so it should be OK.

Before you go crazy with testing and idle control valave swaps, get a can of seafoam for the intake. How long did your car sit? WHen I did my timing belt and 100k service I had my car down for 3 weeks. Same symtooms, went crazy thinking vacumn leak, IAVC etc. Turns out it just needed seafoam after I took the thing apart twiceand changed gaskets. Dont mess with the idle setting until you try the seafoam. How did you fix the idle fluctuation when you said you fixed it?
