Yeah I agree, trans cooler is usually useless and can even cause more trouble for you. Trans oil has a specific operating temp, which is like 160-190F (dont quote me on that). You can feel the trans shift harshly when the oil temp is low. If you run a cooler with normal driving there's a good chance you'll be cooling you fluid too much. The issue in out trans has do with the 3rd gear clutch pack not getting enough lube and wearing way too quickly, cooler fluid will do nothing for it.

Here is the best DIY oil cooler for a TL you can find
Insert new product back in its box
Carefully list item for sale on CL or bay
Sell to other person who does NOT own a TL
Use money to fill gas tank instead

For those who wants to add a tranny cooler, B&M 70255 is perfect. I personally don't use ziptie. This give me the flexibility to put it aside if I need to.
The 4 metal bar brackets work perfect, one bar needed to cut one inch short, and I only use 3 bars. I didn't find a good spot for the 4th one, but it is very sturdy with 3 brackets.
The cooler is bi-directional so you don't worry about that part.
Hoses: Use ONLY 3/8" ID hose. 5' (comes with the cooler) and buy 7' hoses will be plently.
DON'T use 11/32" hose. A bit too small and hard to work with.
Mounting cooler was easy, just tighing the screws.
-One on condensor screw,
-One on steering cooler line screw, (I don't remember exactly, but It could be the screw that holds the temperature sensor)
-One above steering cooler screw that has just a hole for you to put the screw through it.
Running the hoses were real easy, below the headlight there is a path run under the battery.
The hard part was removing the 6" hose behind the tranny.
The cooler will do its job to cool the fluid, nothing more. If you have question, feel free to ask me.

Dude, thats all BS. I know im repeating myself here, but it can be WORSE than not having it at all. Tranny coolers are for track cars, not city driving. If the tranny needed a cooler Honda would've put it in there.
Wana keep you tranny happy? Dont downshift into 5k on the highway, dont gun it off the line. These things keep you clutches in tact, not chilling your tranny fluid. Also stay on top of your tranny flushes.

lets be careful with the word FLUSH regarding trans service on a TL
If you tow your jet ski or track day the car- a cooler wont hurt, but
for normal humans it wont solve the tl trans issues- ask our mod
who went thru 5 transmissions- had the oil cooler on 2 of them- didnt help

Check this link below for Tranny Cooler results. Use your own judgement and decide whether to keep or not to keep the cooler on. I feel the need to keep the fluid cool, that is why I installed it. Driving accross states, above 100 degree, this cooler is really keeping the tranny cool. I personally change my tranny fluid frequently when it does not shift as smooth as yesterday. Without the cooler, I have changed the fluid in 7k, 8k, 10k, 12k. So far with the cooler, the fluid appears to be very good, stays pink longer, smell better, viscosity appears to be good, less residue on the dipstick. I haven't change the fluid yet to tell whether it has more or less residue on the drain plug or not.
