I've been reading a ton of posts about people having their HIDs stolen in the NJ/NYC area. If this has happened to you or anyone you know (TL or non-TL), please post here with the address location of where they were boosted. I'm going to plot all the locations on a map and post a follow-up. Perhaps we might be able to identify 'hot-spots' for these thefts and possibly avoid parking in those areas. Being a fellow NJ resident, I'm very interested in knowing where my HIDs are at the greatest risk.

If there's interest for other major metro areas, I'll try to plot them as well.

I hear Jersey City/Newark area is a hot spot...also i think its rte 46?...by little ferry...dat area too...

You can't really determine where it'll pop up...I've had thefts happen right down the block from my house while my car remained untouched(B'H). My car was in my driveway, though.

I heard a lot of theft on RT. 46 in Little Ferry area. Last time I read someone got their HIDs stolen in the CompUSA and a restaurant around that area. So, I would advice everyone to stay away from that area.

Plenty of thefts in Brooklyn. My neighbor had HIDs on his 2002 Maxima, they stole them twice. The second theft took place only a week after he replaced them. Another person had his HIDs stolen off his 2000 TL in Riverdale, Bronx in his building garage!

It is going to be tough to predict anything, just keep an eye out. I live in a neighborhood where there is always someone awake at night and looks out the window. The neighbors always let everyone know of suspicious behavior at night.

 

I was parked in the CompUSA parking lot on Route 46 in Totowa.

They were stolen within the hour. It was right around Noon.
