Need advice on tranny question

Hey guys, it's been a while last time i've posted here.
I need you guys to help to decide what to do with my TL.

What happened:
- tranny gone, it's still drivable for short distance (was last year )
- I got front right wheel accident, and it looks like CrossMember might need to be replaced. Still had to do the measurements (Does anyone has numbers, or i'll have to go to acura dealership?)

So i need you guys to tell me what would you do in my case?

Manual swap? or 08 TL AT swap?

I've put to much money and time to that car and i don't feel like selling it, coz i would never buy anything close to it for the money i'll get for it.

It is almost spring and time to decide what to do...

Thanks a lot (sad)

any back probs/injuries, or current sporting activities that may lead to one?

do you want to add the constant use of hip and leg for clutch?
or do you like the choice of casual D5 or `modern style sport shift/paddle shift` effect with the auto trans?

are there weather considerations--snow ice etc,,where plodding along in an auto would be nice?

a body shop, or info probably online, for the spec measurements
body shop will have `the book` they use to know if/what things are bent
While a dealer often sends out body shop stuff to a different place,,not done by their own on-site department

Hey 01tl4tl!

Not really.

The question is more about money saving, rather then clutch. I came from the country where we don't have much AT trannys, and TL was my first car with AT I have no problem with driving both.

Also, let's assume - i would able to do the AT tranny swap myself, while MT swap i would need someone help.

That car was only driving in summer, i'm a second owner and first owner did the same, since he had jeep for winter.

I went to two of them and both of them said - we don't have those measurements welcome to canada)))

I'm pretty sure i'll sort that issue somehow.
They main point is about tranny...
Money wise, replacing with 08 TL AT will be twice cheaper, right?
We are speaking about 1.5k vs >3k for manual swap, right?

less parts and cutting involved with auto trans
just an ecu swap and whatever wiring goes with it--is my best guess

accord/oddy trans swappers--whats your info on this?

you can throw in an oddy tranny from 05-06 that are reliable units. You can also use the 06-07 accord trannies that seem to be working much better than the 03-06 units. You can throw in the 05-06 tl tranny. All of the above options will work with minor changes.

Do you also need to change the ecu to make the tranny work in the 2nd gen cars? If so, will the new ecu work with the original engine?

these are all examples of 5 speed auto transmissions. No ecu swaps required. Everything would bolt up and most sensors with plug up. I had to change the range sensor switch and the bracket for the shifter had to be modified. Nothing else as far as i remember was required.

I know somebody out in nyc that would rebuild your tranny for 1200 but its way to far from you. He did 3 Tl's for me and all of them came out great and they also provide you with 6month warranty and if you want a longer warranty you have to pay extra 200.

How about 07-08, tranny's?
I saw few 07-08 AT trannys on sale around.
Any differences between models?

Accord transmission will miss LSD, right?

Up. Having hard time to save some money...
So question about 07 TL AT is still open.
Or what would be the most reliable one.

PS: What the difference between 2003 TYPE-S and 2006 NON type-s tranny ?

They switched the design of the auto tranny in the 07 Tl halfway through the year so if you get a 2007 auto tl tranny you have a 50/50 shot of it actually being able to work for your car

After reading all the threads, looks like the safest way is to go with 2006 Honda's Odyssey tranny.

Anyone against it?

Hey guys!

So, i've decided not to do manual swap, and will just swap tranny.

I heard that people are swapping 07 Accords trannies.

What is the best transmission to replace with as of now?

Odyssey or Accord or something else? And what year.

Thanks again!

'06>'07 Accord V-6, 5 speed AT .....get a lower mileage tranny out of a car that hasn't been hit hard in the front. Best bang for the buck !!!

Bought a new car (2013), don't think extra spending is needed at this point.
