Need advice on fuel injection cleaner

Any advice on fuel injection cleaner? I have 60K on my 2000TL and used cleaner only once at 50K (don't remember the brand). Is there any brand that better than others? How often should I use it (if ever)? Last time I put it in right before a long trip (300 miles), so I used almost a full tank in "one sitting". Is this is a way to do it, or I can get the same results with my usual driving distance (everyday ~16 miles of back roads round trip work-home + weekend 100 - 150 miles). Appreciate your input!

I would go with STP complete fuel injector cleaner. You should put it in every oil change. It comes in a black bottle. What I do is, put the bottle in before you fill up, and then add a full tank of gas. This way the substance gets mixed in with the gas. And then just for that tank, run the car down past the yellow gas light. When the gas light comes on, go another 40-50 miles then fill her up.

this way most of the product goes into your fuel injectors.

Thank you all guys!!! I'll toss a coin to decide between Chevron and Redline...
Hi, sc354! Thank you for the detailed instructions! But can I really drive 40 - 50 miles after the warning? Has anybody tried to figure out how much gas is in the tank after the liight comes up?

Our tank holds a little over 17 gallons. The light comes on when you have about 13.5 or so. So you should be able to drive around without any probs.

Chevron is what I use. Make sure you find the bottle that says Techron on. Not 'contains techron', but TECHRON only. Techron is the additive they use to clean tank barrels in the military... good stuff.

I also like the redline stuff, but it's harder to find.

I used Valvoline Fuel Injector Cleaner with Synthetic and it did an excellent job. I went from 320 to 370 on longer trips... So it does work...
