Near miss!
I was on my way to work this morning, when the traffic came to a sudden halt in the ez-tag lane of a toll road plaza. We had been doing about 50 - 60 mph. I was in the left ez-tag lane, out of two. For those who don't know, ez-tag lanes allow cars equipped with special radio tags to fly right through at highway speed without hassling with a crossbar.
Well, when I looked up in my rear-view mirror to make sure things were cool, to my horror, they weren't! :wow: A large flatbed truck had all six wheels locked up so hard the smoke was obscuring everything else. Holy sh**! It was clear he wasn't going to stop in time.
Since this was the toll plaza, there was no shoulder to bail onto. So I pulled hard right towards the second easy-tag lane. The traffic in that lane was still moving, albeit somewhat slowly. I had to punch my brakes to narrowly avoid the car that was moving through at that moment, then floored it on his back bumper creating a little smoke of my own. My baby shot out into the space behind him just as the flatbed slid all the way up to the car that was formerly in front of me! Whew! I could almost hear the cheering of the other drivers that witnessed the event - including one very lucky truck driver.
Let me tell you, the image filling my mirror of that flatbed truck locked up and smoking as it bore down on me is going to stick with me a helluva long time. It is so nice to have a car that responds like you need it to, when you need it to.

Good move dude.
I had a similar experience this weekend. was driving to Ann Arbor in thick fog and rain .... cruisng along I-94 at 85 mph when the car in front of me slammed on his brakes out of the blue. I had about half a second to check my rear view mirror before I swerved into the right lane. fortunately for me the lane was clear. If not I would have rear ended the car in front of me for sure. turned out the car had hit a deer. sometimes you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I am tellin' you, this ride we drive is amazing under critical situations. I don't know if y'all have seen "Samuri Jack" on cartoon Network... Well the car reminds me of Jack and how he copes with any threat presented to him... A-m-a-z-i-n-g...
