Navigation Update Version 2.50?

I was shopping the Acura site - looking for a new nav disc. It says the latest update DVD will be released and available for purchase "soon" - ANYONE KNOW HOW SOON that will be???

I was happy going from an 01 disc to an 04, and now the new one awaits!!!
The more I fix up the TL the more places I like to go- and the gps may know 2 areas, but not how to get between them

It was November last year when a new one came out IIRC
Those wanting this years/last edition release- if no changes were made to your area on the new one- they offer 50 bucks off at acura.com when its close to changeover date for the old disc

Quick question, are the newer ones faster than the old ones?

my navi lags when i'm typing in addresses, or looking for something. is it supposed to be that slow? Thanks

it might make the processing a bit more organized, make the OS a bit more slim lined... but they can't change ur hardware.. so i'm guessing you might see a bit of improvement.. just speculating...

Smile 2nd generation nav disk wanted

How can I get a 2nd generation nav disk. My car came without the disk (I purchased it used) I don't need the most current version, just something that will work.

You can sometimes find a used disk on ebay or maybe the black market

I bought the last update when it came out and the salesperson told me that it had lots of street updates, but more importantly it had ~50,000 new POIs. As for the speed, the slow part is accessing the DVD-based system itself. If anything it will be slower since it has more options to search through...

I give you a good deal on a v2.05b if you want it. Is your nav working without a disk?

According to Paul Mooney's Navhelp.com site, the last update for the hard drive based system was December of 2002.

To get more recent map data you can replace the trunk mounted hard drive unit with one of the DVD units. Updates are still being released and you'll get coverage of the entire US. It's a Plug N Play replacement.

That's really cool. I'm sure there's been a lot of changes since then. Alright, so who's selling their DVD navigation unit?

If you dont have one already in the car- go aftermarket or handheld
You get more value for the dollar with the technology of today

I appreciate the screen size in the car, but my portable has more features

I have the hard drive version and looking into getting the dvd. What features do you really need though? I prefer to have a bigger screen to look at.

the handhelds offer more current updates via your home computor- sometimes several a year included in price,

It tracks altitude/speed/distance which is fun
Has more local POI
Can be carried on foot and used to find places and mark where you parked!

But check the auto recylers for a unit-
NOTE #### has to come with VIN of car it was in, proof of legal sale, with security CODE and then you will need the newest disc for $200 on top of that

When a friend recently forgot his portable on a roadtrip and was way off course, my phone rang and he asked for mapquest help
His young daughter was in the background asking:
Is this the new TOM TOM GPS???
