Navigation or not
definitely get the NAV...even though its 2K option, youll be glad to get it once you start using it. pretty good to have if you decide to resell it too.
they come out with updates yearly, but dont quote me on that.

It might take you on the wrong freeway, or take a horrible road once in a while, but over all, you will never ever get lost again. No way, no how, unless you really really don't know how to use it, which is super easy. I have it, i love it, i need it, yes it did screw me up once of twice, but it always got me back to where i wanted to go.
My opinion, get it, its the only option on the car, and believe me, you don't want to regret not getting it.
If you are saying "Should I?" I say, "You Should". If you have a doubt go for it, you will love it.

I did the DVD upgrade for my 2000. It's a yearly update and it costs about $160. It's only worth doing if there are updates for the area where you drive most, otherwise the older one will work fine. You can check this out with your dealer before you buy it.

I'd say definetly get the Navi. It's totally worth it. Plus the dash doesn't look right without it. And now thanks to Dave, we can now play video on the screens.

Didn't want it, only car on the lot in the color we wanted had it, got a deal (dealer basically through it in), bought it, love it, will buy it in the future for sure. Well worth the 2K.

I would buy the Nav first even if I can't afford the car...get the car later.
hehehe j/k Of course get the Nav...we all love the Nav. It's worth 2k and you don't need to update the DVD map yearly...unless you want to. The update is 150 for the DVD.

Get the NAV unit if you think it'll be useful for you, or if you like the look of it, and can afford the extra 2k (which you probably can if you're buying a TL in the first place).
I didn't think I would need it and didn't like the look of it -- maybe it's old-fashioned of me, but I think the non-NAV dash looks a lot cleaner, and I much preferred the dial-knob A/C controls to the touch-screen ones. If I ever find myself wishing for a GPS/NAV unit, I'll get an aftermarket one and put the LCD panel behind the passenger seat sun visor.

I'm not sure how many after market Nav is DVD based, but the Acura one is pretty good. It can store detailed maps of most major cities. If you get a non DVD based one such as one with CD or hard drive, you would probably have to download detail maps of cities where you are or whenever you travel out of town. Not that you will be traveling all over the place, but that's still a hastle. I don't think aftermarket ones will be as good as the Acura Nav.

I'll post the dissent (as usual!
)
I didn't think it was worth $2k, especially since I'm almost always driving someplace I've already been. For the small percentage of the time I'm in unfamiliar territory, $2k wasn't worth it. It would have been a really nice toy, but the non-NAV TL is toy enought!
I'd be surprised if I don't have one on my 2006, though. My guess is that NAV will be standard equipment in this class within a few years...
