Navi Update -- 2.20

Does anyone know when this is going to be released? I really want the update disc but know as soon as I dump the $185 into 2.11C, that they are going to release 2.20.

What version did they upgrade to dual-layer?

Any ideas?

Just curious, who on this forum would have this information and unless they had an inside source, you couldn't trust them anyway. Heck, even then they could just be blowing smoke. I'm betting 2.20 will not be out today, and they'll just change the web site to say it'll be available in February.

Here is the latest word from the Acura Navi website:

"The current version is 2.11C, and is available for purchase. The 04 Fall Update DVD (version 2.20) has been delayed, but will be available sometime in January."

Is that January, 2005, 2006, 2007...? Based upon Acura's track record, I won't be holding my breath while I wait for its release. I bought the 2.11C version and I would like to get some miles on that one before I replace it.

the hard drive units quit updating a few years ago. This is for the DVD systems; and you never know, someone may have some inside info - that does happen on this site

I'm holding out for 2.20 as well. I'm on the 2001 disc in my 02 TL. If i had a dual-layer burner i would hook ppl up with discounted copies, but i dont

Let's just that they get 2.20 out soon before fall of this year!

If I do get the updated cd then do I just have to swap the cds or do I need to bring it to the dealers to format it or something?

damn that sucks, maybe I wont get the 2.11c then...is there a 2.11a or b? I really want to get one that has most every road, then update again in a few years. If the 2.11c is lacking alot, I may just wait. And what is the advantage of the dual layer disk? other than more info?

List some road names, with city and state and I can tell you if they're on the 2.11c DVD.

That's the only, and most important advantage, more info. More roads, more POIs, etc. It's beyond me why people keep mentioning that the latest DVDs are dual layer. AFAIK, it's only important to people who want to make copies of the DVD. To everyone else, who just pops the DVD into the unit, the fact that it's dual layer is irrelevant.

The dual layer is important because that is when they added double the amount of mapping info, POIs, and software upgrades. Nowhere, at least intentionally, was the mention of making copies mentioned; It was simply because I did not want to invest in the upgrade if it did not include the newest features and mappings. Living in Central Jersey, most of my area is a big grey hole, at least according to navteq =)

A single layer DVD contains about 4.7gigs of data while a dual layer DVD contains 8.5gigs. That's the difference. The 2.11 is dual layer, but I don't know how much of the 8.5gigs they are using up because I don't have the 2.11. If they used up all the space, then my guess for a 2.20 DVD is that they will be going by demand of which cities/states need/use the software the most. Taking away from some cities/states and giving to others. If anyone has or can make an .iso image of the 2.11 disk, PM me and I could figure out how much space is being used by it to determine if the 2.20 may even be worth getting.

I doubt they are using up the entire DVD9 (DL) disc for 2.11. The version prior to that was just a single layer disc. I doubt they increased enough content to require double the amount of storage.

according to the site, the 2.20 version will have lots more info on it. I have a burned copy of the 2.11c now and if you look at the back, the info doesnt go out to the end...so there is much more space on the disk
