How do you get the Navi to list directions without using the map? Kind of like how mapquest writes them out...I know that I saw it...Ed (ShoofinTL) I think you did it on my car?

 

You have to press the Map/Guide button as soon as it has calculated the directions. After you start on the route, the Map/Guide button just toggles the map on and off (vs. the little blue screen that just tells you the next turn).

 

I may not have been totally clear on the question...is there a way to have the navi just list out the directions step by step like your computer would if you went to Mapquest? I'm asking b/c there are times I'd like to see what routes the navi is taking rather than scrolling through the map.

 

After entering an address but before you start your trip pushing "map/quide" displays the streets selected by the Navi in a step-by-step text format. Once you begin the trip pressing "menu" and then "avoid street" brings up the same display. Pressing "cancel" takes you back. If you don't like a specific route selected by the Navi using "avoid street" is a cool way of having it select an alternate route. For example, I drive in NY/NJ. You can use one of two tunnels or a bridge to get between the two. Depending on where I'm going I know that the bridge is sometimes fastest. By using "avoid street" and de-selecting the tunnel Navi recalculates using the bridge.

 

You can get to the step-by-step directions at any time! Just make sure you are on the guidance screen and then tap the joystick right or left and the directions will come up.
