navi problem....
navi problem....
whats up guys....just wondering if you guys have had this problem....when i start my TL, the screen is blank sometimes...so i just turn the car off, and restart it and the screen works...any ideas why?.....thanks for the help
maby it is having a hard time reading the disk make sure it's clean just an idea I have not experenced that but sometimes my navi just reboot's while im driving thank goodness hasent happent in a long time
This happened to me once when I first got my car just over a year ago. The navi screen would either stay blacked out, or it would display a bunch of different colored lines (almost looked like static, but the image didn't move). The dealer happened to notice it when it went in for service, (I forgot to tell them about it) so they replaced the screen in the dash - they told me about all this when I picked up the car. Props to Pohanka Acura! Any ways, since then I've never had the problem re-occur.
The oddest problem I ever experienced with NAV (2002 TLS) was on a very cold night. The NAV came up slower than usual, and then it displayed a map with about 10 roads all meeting in the center of the screen, like a wagon wheel.
Same thing for me. I let the car heat up a bit, then turned it off and restarted.
That was a couple years back and its never happened again.

I currently have the same problem as the original poster here, and am curious if anybody has seen this problem come up. I've had both the original screen replaced, and an entirely new navi system put in my car, and the problem persists.
In a nutshell, the navi occasionally (and randomly) fails to boot-up. I get absolutely nothing on the screen, and it is non-responsive. I literally need to stop the car, shut it down, and restart to bring the system on-line.
As I've mentioned, the dealer has replaced both the screen (original) and the entire unit, and the problem still persists.
Any suggestions or advice?

adkent...its most likely the hard disk that you are using....i live in houston, and this problem happens to me only during the summer time for the past 2 or 3 years...i guess it gets too hot and the disk fails to respond....but anyways, its your disk....try looking on ebay for a dvd navigation unit....way more stable, and lots more info....search 'acura dvd' on ebay, and something might come up....just my $0.02
Guys:
Just to clarify, I have a 2001 TL with the DVD Navi, so it isn't a HDD issue.
The problem popped-up again this morning while I was bringing my daughter to the bus stop. Started the car, pulled-out of the garage, and noticed (20s after starting) that the screen was entirely black. Nothing. This happens randomly; at least 3 times a week. Acura has replaced the entire unit, and they can't figure it out.
Maybe they'll just give up and drop me a new 2004. Then again, maybe not...
