Navi on a '99 TL

I just bought my 99 TL with navi. There isnt a CD or DVD for it, just the PCMCIA hard drive. Where can I go to get the maps and POIs updated?

Depends on what version you have. If you have ver2.01, then according to Acura, thats the latest version out there for 99 TL as of today (atleast thats what the guy said). If you have an older version, then the dealer should be able to update the hard drive.

Anybody know when the next version comes out ?

Don't quote me on this, but I am pretty sure they stopped updating the PCMCIA version.

Apparently, Acura has stopped support for the Navigation system on the 99 TL. According to AHM there will be no further map updates to the system. They will repair the system if it breaks, but no new software. They say that Alpine (the maker of the unit) is no longer providing updates.

Is there anyone else out there that finds this totally unacceptable? I have less than 80,000 miles on the car and now have a major feature that will become increasingly irrelevant as roadways continue to change.

yeah i find this ridiculous too. atleast they should replace the hardware so that we could shove a dvd in there like the other newer TLs. what good is an old tv screen with old data!!

anyways, before we bang our dang heads on the wall... do we know for a fact that there is no upgrade coming up for sure ? does acura verify this ?

My ACURA delaer said that the last update was 2.03 and that was from December of 2002. He said that they wont be updating the hard drive versions anymore

i had the same problem too (old data)...i also had a problem with the disk itself, it never worked in houston summers...i guess the disk got too hot and wouldnt function.....but i have great great news...the DVD systems plug right in....go on ebay or to a junk yard and look for a dvd unit (not the voice activated ones) and buy it...unplug the 3 cables on the back of the hard disk unit, take out 4 screws, slide it out of the bracket.....slide the new dvd unit in, put back the cables and screws...and you are all set...i went from 3 states to the entire country....here is added incentive to get it...one of the categories you can search for is "Bars"....its great....it made college that much more fun

deye......i got mine off ebay, for 400.....umm, not sure what other places offer it.....how much does the dealer charge JUST for the navigation unit?....maybe if you go to Acura and tell the the hard disk version isnt working properly, and because upgrades arent available anymore they will cut you a deal.....not sure though
