Mystery cracked windshield
so last night i park my car in the garage as usuall, go inside, and sleep. this morning i wake up, go outside to start my day, and WTF? my windshield is cracked!
Now, ive heard of temp changes causing that, but not in Florida... its either hot or hotter here.
Whats the WIERD part is that theres an impact point.... the crack goes halfway up the drivers side, starting from the bottom. the impact point is a real small chip EXACTALY under where the wiper sits. so WTF? no rocks hit my car, i had just JUST washed it and it wasnt there before.... wierd...
No biggie though, i wanted a new windshield neway. "sand blasted" pretty bad. Florida law states the insurance company has to cover it as ZERO deductable and they cant raise your rates over it. so its all good
But still, how the hell did this happen in the middle of the night in a locked garage under the wiper?

it's a stone chip...happens all the time...
it's possible that the stone chip happened, and you didn't notice it when cleaning your car. Anyhow, going from outside where the temperature is like 80 degrees to inside a garage where the temp is like 60 degrees makes a big impact on the crack, and subsequently causes stress on the crack. Over a small period of time, the windshielf flexes back and forth, which causes the crack to be more visible as it travels up the windshield...so it's probably caused by the temperature change. Sorry to hear about it though

I have owned 7 cars in 17 years. Until my TL, only one got a stone chip. My TL has gotten 3 in a little over a year. Is the TL windshield more prone to get them?
