My wiper blades speed up and slow down
I noticed the wiper blades when set to intermittent they swipe every 5 seconds when the car is at rest. but when going down the road it increases to once every 3 seconds. And continues at that speed until I stop at a stoplight. Then after 5-10 seconds of sitting. It switches back to swiping every 5 seconds.
Is this a feature I never paid any attention to or is it likely the fault of the motor or something similar lol
I ask because it would make sense to increase the speed when driving due to the increased volume of rain hitting the windshield.

Make sure the linkages are not damaged. Pull the cowl plastic and pull on the linkage under there, if there is any play or any sort of binding it needs to be replaced.
Whne I got my TL it had bad linkage and it would speed up and slow down based on the voltage the motor sees. Once I replaced all the linkage and it was solid, it reacts properly and consistently regardless.

Intermediate
It's a feature. For my 2003, p. 72 of the manual discusses this. "In intermittent mode, the wipers operative every few seconds. The sweep interval will change slightly with speed; getting shorter as you drive faster. In low speed and high speed, the wipers run continuously." Also: "If you turn the INT TIME ring to the shortest delay, the wipers will change from intermittent to low speed operation when the vehicle speed exceeds 12mph."
There will be a quiz next week.
