Angry my trunk has a mini pool in it

sucks that it takes this to get me to return to this site. I havent been reading up on things here lately...

Anyways, I finally get my car back from my bro after a month of it being away (damn was my baby dirty! It had been raining a bunch around here). I detailed her as soon as the weekend came. After completion, I popped the trunk and took out my bags. I found my bags were wet, why I didnt know. Turns out the whole mat back there was wet. Lifted up the spare tire cover and there it was...water sitting inside my spare tire's hub. I lifted the tire, and man...freaking spa up in there. It was 1.5 inches deep in the picture shown below. This crap happened before too. At that time it wasnt as much water and so I attributed to some of my water bottles spilling out (i kept some inside the spare tire to prevent rolling in the back).

My friend says he owned a legend and it did the same thing. He found out that it was something to do with the sunroof's drainage system and that something is clogging towards the back and causing the ocean that is my trunk space. Any thoughts??? Thanks guys, this forum is still great as hell.

pics taken at night and might be oversized...

This can also happen when the weather seals around your taillights become deformed or damaged. I'd pay particular attention to this if you've switched to Inspire taillights.

Yah, I used to have a 90' legend and it did the same thing. My trunk used to stink! I heard it was a common problem w/the 1st gen legends. Go to the dealer!

OH ****! This happened to me when I didn't install the rear brake light seal properly! Make sure you feel between the rear seats because I had water under those! The whole ****ing rear seat cushions where soaked all the way through, from the foam side! It was terrible. I had to dry them out with a space heater and dehumidifier. Make sure if your seat is wet, you get a new one!!!! I feel for you man.

I am so surprised that the owner manual doesn't mention anything about checking the moonroof drain channels. Even my 92 Accord manual mentions how and how often to check it. There are four holes at each corner of the moonroof tray. There are also four plastic hoses connected only by a clip to guide the water from all A and C columns to the drain valves behind the wheels under the car. I would check it once a year by pouring a little bit of water to the tray and see the water comes out. Don't go crazy with the water, cuz it will spill inside the cabin if oyu flood it. Hope that will help fahoumh!

That happend to me about a month ago and I put my friend in the trunk with all the carpeting out and I started to wet the car and it leaked between the taillight into a little hole that was supposed to have a plug in it. so I just plugged it up and no more watery trunk since.

It doesn't???? My CL manual had information about this under the washing area. There was information about all the drain points on the car, where they are, and to check them every time you wash the car to make sure that they are clean.

very important. I removed all the carpets from the trunk, and resealed the two drains. if it's not properly sealed, moisture gets in and the corners of your wheels will look like all the hondas do.
While you're there, spray some Rust Check down the rear wheel well. So you that the bottom rear wheal fender won't rust on ya from the inside!

Buddy with the water in the trunk, after you drain it and dry it, spray some Rust check. Just get a rag, soak it in rust check and treat all the areas. You want to make sure all that water is repelled.

Just a note on ussing silicon to fill holes - make sure it says sensor safe! One little whiff of non-sensor safe silicon before it dries and your car is going to have problems!

I haven't looked in my TL manual, but my CL manual said to check all the body drains when washing the car, to check it every time. if a leaf or something gets caught it could cause the water to sit, possibly rust.....

forgot to post the cause/solution of my leaking trunk problem for future reference.

Turns out, like Nate, my rear brake light wasnt in right. The service guys at my dealership sat inside the trunk as it was closed while a hose was beign sprayed. I found this kinda funny . Anyways, they found out what I said above and it was taken care of.

When I first read the title to this post I was like: "Bling! Bling! Somebody got a hot tub in his g-ride TL!" Now, I'm all disappointed.
