My TL is wacko-Need Advice for Dealer HELP

This morning i had to drive upstate for business. I was on my way up, stopped to pick something up at a store, come out, put the car into reverse and it went nuts. The tranny banged. First it felt like it was in neutral, then after hesitation it banged into reverse. While in reverse, the D5 was blinking and all the warning lights went on. I put the car into park, turned it off and restarted it and the alarm went nuts. Now the check engine light is on. I have no idea what caused this, but this is the second time in two weeks that the check engine light has gone on. Last time I spoke to the dealer and they told me to wait and see if it turns itself off. I did not have time to take it in today, but will try to by the end of the week. I currently have 14,700 miles on the car (It is an '03 TL-S). The maintenance required light is also on, but I'm assuming that has something to do with the 15,000 mile service. Would the check engine light come on because I am nearing the service? Also, it was raining this morning in NY. Could the moisture have caused all this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your tranny is about to be expired. Bring it to the dealer before it completely dies out when you are on the hwy

I took it into the dealer and they said that the tranny is fine, but that the AEM intake damaged the throttle position sensor. They said that when it was put in, the computer should have been updated. Does this make sense? They are also saying that the TPS affects when the tranny shifts. Anyone have an opinion on this? It makes no sense to me. Thanks.

Well, Acura of Manhattan stinks. I called Park Avenue Acura in NJ, and they said they had no idea what this guy was talking about. The intake should not affect the tranny and the computer does not get manually adjusted, but adjusts itself. I am taking it to them on Monday. These guys are really a joke.

I called Acura corporate to complain about the stupidity that the dealer fed me. We'll see what happens. They said they will open a case on it.

On the drive home tonight, the tranny seemed to be better. I know the dealer did not do anything to it, but does it make sense that the problems would come and go and not be constant? Thanks.

tranny problems are annoying. They only die when you least expect it. Either way I'd bring it to PAA and have them check it out.

Just to update everyone. The car was brought into Park Avenue Acura this morning and they have a tranny on order. Again, Manhattan Acura stinks (STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!). They even put me into an Enterprise Trail Blazer while they have the car. Tom is a good man.

Just to update everyone, I picked up my TL-S from Park Ave. Acura tonight. They got my car Monday morning, the tranny came in this morning and at 3:30 Tom called me to let me know it was ready. They are good. Anyway, I have two concerns which I am not sure are due to the new tranny or the fact that I have been driving a TrailBlazer since Monday. First, i am noticing more of an engine breaking then I was before it went in. Literally, if i let off the throttle the RPM's drop and the engine slows itself. Is this normal. Secondly, I was in traffic on the way home (Shockingly enough in NY) and I noticed that when I stopped, the idle dropped pretty low and the engine felt like it might stall. Is this the computer learning? (BTW, they replaced the ECU with the tranny). If anyone has any similar experiences or any answers, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I have enjoyed reading this....as I am hoping it will give me insight as to what to expect when I pick up my 2003 TL-S sometime next week. It, has been at the dealership since Tuesday, waiting for the new tranny to arrive and be installed. I should have it back my Monday or Tuesday - no definite date. The same situation occurred with ours, we stopped the car and when we got back in the dash was going nuts and the car was shifting all over the place, amongst other things. We had the car picked up and towed with roadside assistance and they immediatly informed us that we needed a new tranny, of course, never mentioning that there had been issues. We did get an Acura loaner car (which has not been cleaned since they bought it I suspect).
