my TL-S vs CL-S
Last night, around midnight, I was driving in Washington D.C. down Michigan Avenue when I pulled up to a guy in a CL-S at a red light. We had the traditional eyeing of each others cars. When the light turned green we both punched it. I pulled out with over a 1/2 car length for a while untill we reached around 70, when I slowed down, because we were actually only in a 35 mph zone.

P.S.- Oh yeah that was with 6 people in my car, and only one in his!!!

Yeah...probably wasn't racing...and let off after a bit.
mchTypeS.....curious about your 'port and polish.' How much did it cost you? Did you feel a significant boost for what you paid compared to the rest of your mods. I am interested in doing the same. Also, any take on doing the traditional 'port' method v. Extrudehone or something?

Hey meloHYPE.
Pay no mind to those skeptics. They think that if they can't beat a certain car then no one else can either. :p
The guy probably had a slow one or maybe he wasn't any good. But a guy that hits 70 in a 35 was without a doubt trying to race.
Just be safe and enjoy your victory.

Let me get this right.
You have a system in your trunk so your rear is already weighted. You had 6 people in your car (let's say 150 lbs avg) that's 900 lbs.
And you beat him by 1/2 a car length.
And the CL is no slouch.
Given that the cars are basically identical sounds fishy to me.

The port and polish is part of the 3.5L upgrade for the CLS/TLS.
If you want to know more, leave syncivic a note -- I don't know if they only do it as a "whole" 3.5L upgrade package.
I would also like to know what a super quality extrude hone would do for the car.
I would guess that the gains (for the CLS/TLS) would be less than those produced for some of the “crusty” intake manifolds that some poor cars get... (Just my opinion)

BTW, dun get soo happy if you beat a CLS if you have 6 people in the car..... Obviously he is not racing you... think about it, both cars are same motor, same weight... and you have 6 people in the car... lets say 120lbs each, thats 600lbs + 3500lbs, thats 4100lbs.... Wat make you think you can beat a TypeS????
There is like a simple equation, but somewat accurate about how fast will you run:
Weight / horsepower / 2.1
So lets say stcok car is 3500lbs
3500 / 260 / 2.1 = 6.41sec
Your car with 6 people, lets say 120lbs Each!
4220 / 260 / 2.1 = 7.7sec
With that time, pretty much an Accord could beat it..... so I dun think he race you... I dun think you need to know how to drive the car inorder to beat a TypeS with 6 people! Well fact is fact, i guess you should say I PASSED a CLS instead of beat it!

First rule of "posting about kills":
Don't post about kills.
Everyone will give you their 2 cents of magizine logic on how you're wrong.
if he was racing... you won
if he wan't racing... you still won
if he has a bad actuator... you still won
if it was a rebadged CL-P... YUP. you still won

Damn, in that case I wanna make sure I never run into you in my 540i cuz based on those stats, hell you'll kill my 540i if it's just you in the car. j/k
I was thinking about what juniorbean said, and perhaps the guy was shifting early in his SS which would say 1 or 2 things, he's an idiot of a racer, or he's just scared to open that baby up.

People forget that it's not the stats that are being challenged in posting a kill.
I don't give a rip about a car that is faster than mine because it's me against him and his car. Not his car's stats against mine. If it weren't then this is how a race might take place.
"Hey bud, you wanna race? Ya sure. Okay pull over. Okay man, show me your published car rags results. No man you you me yours first. Okay, 0-60 in 6.28 and the 1/4 mile in 14.72 at 97.6MPH. Hey wait a minute. What magazine is that? MT! I don't recognize their results as the offical results for that car."
Guys, let me tell you. It is a fact that the faster car does lose sometimes. Don't think so, go to a real drag racing strip and see for yourselves.
Also, it's who gets from point A to point B that wins. And that is definately not always the faster car. That's why I know that I can beat a faster car from time to time. If you can't understand that, then you don't know anything about racing.
No where is that pesky GS400. I need to add their emblem to my kill list on my left front fender. :p
