Post My point of view on Parking very far from general population.

Parking far away from general population is not always a good thing. I use to park very far, or a least park somewhere where there is hardly any cars around, until some ass-o- dentet my car with a shopping cart. My brother once told me, "Park somewhere where there is SENDEN on both side of your car and if possible park beside some very expensive car." This makes sense because if there are two cars beside you, the chances of a dent is minimized.

This is just my thought on Parking. Let me know what you guys/ladies thinks.

I used to park far away from everyone. That is until I got hit anyway. 10-12 spaces away from the closest car in the lot too. I think it pisses people off when you park away from normal population. I guess they think you're too good to park near them.

Now what I do is try to find an end spot and park as close to the curb as I can so I can leave as much space for the possible moron next to me to swing his/her door open.

Yeah, I do the same thing

AcuraJoe, parking between 2 nice cars does make sense. i'll keep that in mind, thanks =)

I'm not too sure about parking really close to the curb tho. I'm scared of curbbing my rims especially when the curb is on the passenger side.

Also, try not to park next to two door cars, their doors are much longer and can reach your nicely waxed TL easily.

the 80s style camaros are ones to avoid. They not only have some of the biggest doors, but they come to a sort of point that could really do some damage.

I tend to park near a handicap space or a landscape island, minimizing risk. Next I park between two cars that are well taken care of...preferably a sedan (smaller doors)

for me to find a parking space.. it would take at least 20 mins. I usually go for those end space, this way, if they do dent ur door, it'll only be one side. lol
well.. don't u just hate it that sometimes, u leave a whole lotta space for the next car.. but still.. some moron would just rush into that space u left for them and park their car so damn close to urs? Stupid people.
Before u guys get into the car, do u have this habit of checking all doors make sure it's not dented? I do that everytime.

Whew I thought that I was the only mental (no pun intended) TL owner out there!!!!
Usually I try to park at the last stall or where there's only one car. Even if it's out of the way! But usually I don't take my car to the mall.....
I wish people would respect other peoples property!!

I always try to look for an end spot as well. Or next to 4 door cars.
But the best is right next to two expensive cars if you have to.

Here is what I try to do, ALWAYS try to park on the passenger side of cars, there will always be a driver but the chances that there will be a passenger are less..

Anyway, glad I'm not the only person who does this kind of stuff.

I try to park next to minivans and sedans that look "normal". but if there's no choices, I just park wherever is available.

Well my pc is up and running again. Got a lot of catching up to do.
I usually park as far away as possible (and uphill to avoid runaway shopping carts).
Have you folks ever noticed this phenomena: You pull into a lot that is virtually empty, but as habit you park far away anyway. Come back to your car and guess what? One idiot has parked right next to your TL! What is this all about?

Man, I thought this only happend here in the Bayarea... and its not like its a nice car either, it usually some POS corolla or somthing! Some people just don't understand the relationship between a driver and their TL.

Hey, this is good to know that there are actually people like me in this world. Usually, it takes about 10 minutes for me to find a suitable parking space.

DO NOT take 2 spaces. Aside from that being extremely rude you attract attention to it and are more likely to have damage done to your car.

my dad had a '96 Jag and alwaysed parked far away, but I finally explained to him that people with POS cars park next to you, no matter how far away u park, so piss u off-It worked on my dad. So I suggest park maybe a spot or two away from the otehr cars, not a whole row or something enormous, or something that makes it look like you are trying to "hide" from other cars.

Yup thats what I do too. But if that fails, I just drop off my passenger (girlfriend) and then find me a safe spot some what far away.

I try to find an end spot. Never park next to a minivan. Mom's are to busy with the kids to be careful when opening the door. You may get scratches from kids/dogs/gym bags/diaper bags/etc rubbing against your car as they are scrambling to get into the minivan.

My wife's minivan is beat to sh!t. She obviously doesn't care where she parks. It has dents and dings all over, and it's only 5 years old.

There's no better way to piss someone off than to take 2 spaces. Think of it this way, if someone see u taking up 2 space while they are circling to find one...you can bet your car will be keyed. I would do it :P

I always try to be curteous so I won't piss people off.

1. Park far
2. Park next to van
3. Park near well taken care sedan
4. Park near 4 doors car
5. Park at the end
6. Park on passenger side
7. NEVER take 2 parking space

i always try to find a curb spot... at least one side (which is highly possible) i always back in as well...(for looks) and i chose the curb to let the dorks w/the POS rides, swing open their doors. i'm not too worry about curbs, cause when you pull out, just go out far enough before turning the wheel... to prevent rim damage...
oh, I TEND not to park between cars, i don't see how that'll prevent dents... parking spots aren't built for tl's... they need to be double the width of now... that would leave us worry free. if i do park between two cars, i try and make sure that at least one of the two is nicer than mine... that way i know they care more than me for sure...
taking up two spots, gets your shit keyed... and parking far away, just ain't safe.
good thing about a phat ride, is if you ever vallet, they'll put your car upfront, so there is no worries of them wrecking your sh*t!!!!!
i find parking by handicap spots really cool, cause there is so much rooms, but then again, you get those old people that park really close to you, and dang your sh*t up w/thier canes, wheel chairs and what not...
so hey, best bet, keep your car garaged and make g/f drive everywhere...
THIS POST IS TOO LONG, ANYONE ACTUALLY GONNA READ WHAT I WROTE????????????

Hey, here's another option for parking...if there is an option to parallel park, try that You will most likely not get door dings. The only possible issue is a bumped bumper

JTang:

That's not always the case, bumper-to-bumper. Someone, with a broken leg, through her crutch towards my lovely tl when she slipped right beside it. It dented the car a bit, but I told her that it was not her fault so I ended up taking the bill. She insisted, but we on holiday and that it was too much trouble for both the nice lady and myself. Anyways, my point is that SH!T happens.

I hope you match up the dents to their door exactly. While I want to **** people who damage your car you must be sure it was them and not another car that left the stop in between this car.

If I find a car parked next to mine I check for dents or scratches, and should I find one I will walk my key up the side of there car or hock a luggy . I don't like doing this but some people need a lesson in respect of other peoples property.

Same exact thing happend to me, only it didnt leave a dent or anything, but still, people got so much nerve. I have never hit anyones car with my door. I don't understand how stupid you must be to swing your door open into someone elses. Just don't get it. Better get off this topic, its enraging me ruining an otherwise nice evening.

Originally posted by Wow I have a TL:
Only if I am 100% sure it was that car, I would never do that to anyone for no good reason. Example I was sitting in my car when some person opened there door and hit my car putting a dent into it, I put down the window and said HEY YOU JUST HIT MY CAR!!! and all they said O sorry and walked away. Sorry isn't going to pay to repair the dent.
Like I said I would never do that for no good reason but maybe that person will think next time they open there door!

Good points made by everyone. Bottom line is just to park far away. Chances for damage is greatly reduced! Only time I will feel comfortable parking next to someone is if I know the person. Otherwise I got my hiking boots on!
