You guys do not know how lucky i am. I never thought that i would ever be behind the wheel of an acura 3.2tl. In highschool i was dropped off in a beat up '89 camry. Then we switched to '94 maxima. Mom never let me drive the car to school. I went to a rich private school, my friend(17) had a '99 range rover. Other one had a '99 bmw 3 series. Others had mustangs chrsler sebrings(bradn new). Still better than no car, like me. I(17) finally got my '99 tl in january, so happy. Unfortunately i have graduated HS and am in my second smester college. I love my tl, and i hope many here will help me in times of trouble with my baby. I don't care for too many engine mods, but i will definetly imporve sound and add visual components. Already have a little bit. I wish i was still in HS, i bet my friends would love my tl. Anyway, on my mission (pimpin nation wide with my tl) i will make a stop at my HS this tuesday. Astonish a few people there

you have no idea how hard i work for my beautiful and worthy tl. I go to school in the morning at 10 am and get off at 1 pm on mwf, and on tuesday and thursday i go 12 to 1:15 pm. And on mwf after school i go straight to work after 1 pm. And t,r i go to work in morning at 12 leave to school and go back to work after class. I am thankful to my cousin who is lenient to my work schedule, cause i work for him. Well, while i have nothing to do at work i come and talk to the owners of my tl's brother, sister or whoever it may be.

 

by the way, i pay $600 for my tl. I want it paid off. I was never handed the silver spoon, i was given thre silver shaft up my a$$ by the finance company.

yeah the TL is my first car also i am 16 i've had it for like 3 months now its a 99 w/navi its dropped and i have an intake.

 

As out-of-date as it sounds, you'll appreciate your car much more than someone given theirs. At least you know what a "work ethic" is and that will serve you well for the rest of your life! Much good luck and success!!!

 

Truer words were never spoken. I had crap cars through college and through the first 3 years of work. I make pretty good money but couldn't get a real car because I screwed my credit so bad in college (bar tabs up the ying yang)... Finally someone realized that I could actually afford the damn thing and financed it for me. 12% interest though. I'm 25 and thrilled to finally have a sweet car. I'll appreciate it much more than someone given a $30,000 car on their 16th birthday.

tip for college kids. Don't mess with your credit. I'll be paying for the drinks I had in school for the next 5 years.

 

You paid $600 for a '99!? What's wrong with it!? I don't even have a TL yet, and I still pay over $600 A YEAR, each and every year, just for car ins, never mind the car, house, electricity, utility bills, house tax, fed tax, life ins, house ins, medical ins, dental ins, vision ins, well, you get the idea..

$600 is nuthin for a '99 TL. I hope you meant $6K, then you're startin to get close. If you really only paid $600, it was pretty much handed to you!

 

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume he meant $600/month... I hear ya on the insurance though - I pay $1500 a year.

I know how you feel. I earned my TL with hard work. It is also my first real car and I love it to death. I have learned a lot about my TL through all the nice people on this board.
BTW, happy modding but be careful because it is addictive.
