My Encountering with an RSX-S

All I can say is wow. These cars are well put together. I pull up to a set of lights on hwy. 7 when the speed limit is around 100 km/h. Anyhow, I had noticed at the previous lights that the driver of this RSX-S was really gunning it off the lights (spinning his front wheels and all). I roll down my window and ask the guy what he has under the hood. He has a Comptech ice box, and Headers. So I'm a little reluctant to race the guy as he's pumping out quite a bit of power on top of the 200 HP acura provides. Anyhow, the light turns green and we both gunn it. Surprisingly the guy was quite the skilled driver as he pulled a car length in front of me for a good 50% of the race. As soon as my car geared into 3rd gear, I caught up and passed him by a car length. We continued until we both hit about 180 km/h and then slowed down. I was very very surprised at how close this guy came to making me look bad.

What are your views on this? and are you guys surprised that he almost beat my Stock TL-S?

BTW the weather was in favour of us both. It was 16 Celcius which is around 60 degrees.

I'm surprised...(if he had headers and icebox) that you caught up with him at all..

RSX weight/power --> 13.89 (+icebox + headers + manual) probably looking at closer to 11.5 or less.

TL-S weight/power --> 13.45 plus the fact its an auto and loses a lot more of its crank hp to the wheels than the RSX-S will.

Good run. Now get some headers and icebox and try again

I race my friend with an RSX-S with an AEM intake occasionally. Its an AWESOME race. We basically remain almost exactly side to side the entire time, with the TLS taking maybe a half car lead after the 2nd ->3rd shift. After 3rd, however, the shift into 4th and WAY out of VTEC allows him to catch back up even with me around 110 mph.

im not surprised at all he was in front of you almost all the time. the rsx-s is a fast car... but of course, it's a 4 banger and they are usually weak at high speed that's probably why you took on him...

peace

Just want to clarify one thing...I did win this race. Although he was infront until about 100 km/h I did take him at the end by about 1.5 Car lengths.

I do commend the guy though for driving his car so well. When I pulled up to the line, I thought for sure I would have it in the books, but he definitely gave me a good run for my victory.

BTW just a little bit or irrelevant info. The guy had the Midnight Blue colour, and he didn't have stock rims of tires on the car. It looked like he had bigger tires than stock.

So you raced to 65mph and won??? I swear to Allah I'm gonna blow a gasket trying to read these stories and doing conversions at the same time...

A418t81: I read yours still all dreary eyed and was thinking how slow you Audi is until I reread it!
A really good driver can make these cars shine! They are awesome off the line and anyone trying to chase one in a corner is an idiot! They handle like they were on rails...

That being said, I don't want one at all!

supposedly with h/i/e and a Hondata chip these cars are low-14 to high-13 second cars! They can be made nasty!

the rsx is plenty fast stock. I have seen all motor rsx's run the 1/4 in mid 13's. Thats M3 territory.

My good friend has an RSX-S with an icebox, and we mess around all the time. I always take him off the line, and everywhere else. Of course, Im modded as well. Those things are quick though, dont underestimate em.
