My Dealership Doesn't Believe Me

My dealership claims that I am the only customer that has had squeaks and Tranny problems with the TL-S. WTH?!! I'm not so sure I really believe them. I would like to go in Monday with ammo that shows that these are common problems.

Could anyone provide a site (preferably from Acura themselves) that states what appears to be common problems?

Look at it this way, if there are say 500 reported tranny problems throughout the US, and Acura has sold 50,000+ TLs, then it's possible that ur dealer may not have seen many if any tranny problems with the new TL. If he only has sold say 500 TLs, then he might have seen 1 or 2 with tranny problems.
This is statistically speaking.
Or he could be ****tin' you.

You could print out all the discussions about these issues that were posted here and then hand the guy a "book" two inches thick. He would then be as edgamicated as we are:wow:

This is exactly what I was going to say... the search has been re-enabled, so I'd do a search and print up those topics and let them read it.... better yet, go on-line with them. Even better... go online with them and go to acura-cl.com where we have a forum just for Transmission problems..... then they may believe you....

I am sorry you have to deal with those dealers. When I brought up my concern and observation regarding rattles and squeaks my Acura rep was just as concerned as I was and they even took my passenger seat apart to locate the squeak.

What does it matter whether or not you're the only customer who's had those problems? Are they refusing to fix your car?

Hum..I wonder what they are smoking, it must be damn good cuz they are high. I brought my car into the dealer telling him about squeaks in the sunroof. He didn't even need me to finish my question and said he will take care of it. I also brought up the issue of the tranny problem to him. Even though I'm running trouble free (knock on wood ), he told me there are already a few CL-S's coming back with this issue. He didn't even hesitate in telling me to bring it back for a replacement if I see the first sign of trouble. After the long discussion, he hooked me up with a free oil change.

Thumbs down

Tell that dealer to go - - - - himself & tell him I said so.
I am not going to get into the Tranny problem because Iam not sure about it. I can go buy what some of you have posted on here. I don't race or abuse my car at all I drive the car I think the way it was built for. I have it dealer serviced & go by the owners manual & the dealers service interval. What they said to you was wrong. This site has been very informative like the problem with warped rotors. Alot of people have had them like myself. I had the problem & it was also reported about on this forum. When I got my TL 2yrs ago the the second day of ownership the heated seat switch light would not work. It was reported on the old old ACURA TL site that some of us like SNOOK & others were on.
I knew about this problem before I got my car & knew that the heated seat would still work. Alot of the squeaks & rattles were also reported about on this site & others. I had the problem with the creaking drivers seat. It only did it one day but I noticed it that day. I took it to the dealer but they could not duplicate it but I have never had it since. There are other things that we report to each other about our cars. Some of us have the problems & others don't. But what they said about people on the net was wrong. We own & drive the cars everyday they don't they just fix or try to fix them. But not all dealerships are BUTTHOLES I have been treated pretty good sofar by mine.

nickchop, can you duplicate your problems for the dealer? If so then I can't imagine that they would not try to fix them and expecially so since this is extra money in their pockets from Acura. If however you are trying to get them to address problems that you haven't had but others on this forum have, then you might get some pushback on that.

As someone else mentioned, it is quite likely that whatever problem you have with your car, a dealership may not have had it come up before. Acuras are extremely well-built, reliable cars!

The question is, why does it matter if you are the first person to report that problem? I think if you go in and say "My seat belt is squeaking" then they'll diagnose and fix it. But if you go in with an attitude and say "Everybody on the internet has squeaky seatbelts so you better fix mine!" then they're going to react somewhat defensively and skeptically.

That's funny 'cause both of my rotors were warped at 10K as well...but they re-machined them and gave me new pads at no charge.

I'm not some 20 year old kid who is looking to go bother the dealership. No, honestly I've got better things to do than monitor this site! I typically only come here if I have a question. The squeaks I can duplicate, all you have to do is sit down and drive. Re: the tranny, maybe it's not the tranny, but there is definetely a problem. You will be driving and the rpm will rev up about 500rpm higher, but you can feel that the accelaration has stabilized. It doesn't happen often, but hopefully they will figure it out. If anyone's curious I'll come back to this discussion Tuesday 4/16 and let everyone know what they said/did. Nick

Exactly, the differences between the good dealers and the bad are so vast. Service DOES make a difference, I think it's more important than anything afterall the car ain't worth sqaut if the service sucks. My dealer is awesome, when I take the car in for service if there are any commonly known issues or TSB's they ask, are you having any of these problems.... I know they don't do that for most of their customers, but I do know that I've seen them spend days trying to fix a tiny rattle for a '97 CL owner (and they weren't the original owners). My dealer goes way above and beyond the call of duty, I think if I were you I'd either A, find another dealer, or B call Acura if that's the only dealer in your area.

Results of service call...

Acura service said they could not duplicate the transmission problem. However, did say they had to replace one last month. The service manager was pleasant and said that if I wanted a new transmission they would replace it. He said it is likely that the transmission is in the early stages of trouble and may be a number of months from really acting up. I am going to wait a bit.

The squeaks...The sunroof was fixed with teflon tape and the seatbelt was squeakless for a total of 24 hours and then started to squeak again this morning. So frusterating! Late.
